Week 8 run 3 - so disappointed

Just been out for my third run of week 8.

Run 1 of this week was easy - I felt very comfortable and carried on until 30 mins. Run 2 was a struggle because of the heat but I got through it.

Today the wind was not in my favour. I was being whirled about by it and when I was running into it I felt like I was being pushed backwards. It was a struggle and I stopped after 20 mins. Tired and disappointed.

Really wanted to complete the programme with 100% success rate (just for my personal achievement) and now I feel like I’ve failed at the last hurdle.

Sounds like the weather not helped you and I imagine running against wind hard work. Be kind to yourself and I bet next time you’ll do it easily. Well done for getting so far 👏

I know exactly how you feel - I did the same today with week 8 run 2. I got to 20 minutes but my legs felt so heavy and I was very tired.

But if you think about it, 20 minutes is still amazing!! And we have to remember that sometimes it’s just not your day, and that’s fine as long as you don’t give up on running completely.

Hi Katie, don’t be disheartened. Some days it’s just harder. I am just behind you- did week 8-2 this morning and I think the air was ‘heavy’ as I seemed to find it hard to get enough air in!!!! Was a bit weird actually. So let’s both put it down to the strange weather and move on!! 😀😀

I’m at the same stage as you and I went out really early this morning to try and avoid the worst of the weather. The rain stayed away but the wind was pretty awful. I messed up Strava so don’t have my times but I didn’t want to postpone as I’m so near the end. Just glad I completed and certainly didn’t do any extra time.

Don’t be too disheartened. Would you have been able to run 20 minutes 8 weeks ago, particularly in such weather. Would you even have had the inclination to go out in such weather. So just relax and have a rest day tomorrow. The weather is better on Sunday and next week so you’ll still finish next weekend

You can do it... you proved this in run 1 this week.... you had an off day.... you did not fail ... we aren’t perfect after all so just keep going. If needs be repeat week 8 to prove to yourself you can

You haven't failed! Sounds like you are just being hard on yourself, and that tells me you have absolutely the determination to complete W9 next week without so much as a backward glance at this tiny hiccup.

The wind and humidity were tough going out there today, and don't forget, it has been a tiring week with the constant longer runs now, especially if you did a sneaky extra the other day!

Give yourself the weekend off to recover (I'm at the same stage as you and I find the two day break has really helped me get through the course), and then full steam ahead next week - you know you can do it 💪🏆🤗

Don’t use that F word no one who runs fails it’s just a practise, slow down some more next time and without that vicious wind you will smash it
