Well I did day one.. I hope it gets easier to get home from work and go running. Is it essential to have rest days in between runs

Well done starting this amazing programme. Rest days are essential, everyone will say that. It's best to follow the instructions exactly because if you start adjusting anything it wouldn't work. It's all worked out to the last detail optimising success. The high you get from running is amazing and it's great you got that on your first run - you'll get more of that.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and explains why you must take rest days.

Enjoy your journey

Can relate to what you say although different circumstances - a lot of people doing C25K seem to have found the motivation to do it because of serious wake up calls and the great thing is it works. The high you get, fitness, new friends, parkruns may be. Well done.

I often ran after work. I found it helpful to have all my gear together & had a “ don’t think just go” attitude. Also I challenged myself to be turned around & out again in under 10 mins. 😃
