This week has been terrible, Monday I went out to start week 2. Did my warm up walk then onto the first run and I got cramp in my right calf, I slowed down and tried to walk but it was so painful. I walked home and stretched it out, pain went away the next day. On Thursday I went out and tried it again, this time I got to the end of the first run and the cramp came back. I went home again and stretched it out, it took another 24 hours for the pain to go. I spoke to my physio freind and he suggested I need to drink more fluid before I go out, extend the walking session to make sure I’ve warmed up properly and do a few stretches before I start. Has anyone else suffered with this, what did you do to fix it? Thanks

Week 2 run 1, 1, 1
Fluid before you run, about and hour before and dynamic stretches on your rest days. I think there’s a link on here somewhere I’m sure someone will point you in the right direction. Good luck x
You can drink as much water as you like just before you go out and it will make very little difference. What you drink today will make more of a difference than what you drink tomorrow to tomorrow’s run.
Maybe the lengthening of the warm up walk, and stretches could help but aren’t generally needed on this plan.
Sadly, one of the causes of cramping is previous cramping, so your are going to be more susceptible to them for a few days.
I did some running before starting C25K with a local personal trainer. He said it was due to doing different exercise and it would pass in a couple of weeks. In the meantime i was doing calf stretches each day and before and after running. I was dubious but it did pass after the 3rd week.
