Bang on schedule I finished work tonight and headed out to start week 2 - and this time I took Fluffy Dog with me. I really want her to become a good running companion but it’s never gone well when I’ve tried taking her!
That first 90 second run, going uphill and before my ankles have remembered how to move again, ooh it was tough! I think my walk after it was actually a fair bit quicker than the slow jog, but at least that means I’m not pushing too hard, right?! But the second run got me past the top of the hill, and the third got me over the dual carriageway. Coming home again felt much easier - apart from my stubborn companion getting excited because she saw a fox or something and wanted to go and investigate. And oh boy does she dig her feet in! We managed to keep going though, and the last downhill run was lovely.
I wasn’t quite as excited as on Monday evening, but I’m pleased that so far I’ve kept to my schedule, and it’s all going well. I think I’m slower than I’ve ever been before, but there’s plenty of time yet to work on that.

Well done!! I run with my dog but it’s on back roads that are lovely and quiet so he runs about beside me which is wonderful. When we run by the main road it’s a different story lol.
Sounds like you have an ace running companion. Well done on getting to week 2! I did my second run for week 2 tonight. I didn’t have a brilliant day at work and made myself go for the run and felt so good afterwards!
I think she could become a great running mate if only she could learn that when I’m running it’s time to trot on, not time to stop and sniff! But when she decides to stop, she STOPS. I have absolutely no idea how she digs in so determinedly - she’s way harder to get moving than our previous dog was, and he was half her weight and size again! The Scruffy Terrier is actually a better running mate, but I feel shamed by his speed and enthusiasm 😂
Well done - you are absolutely right about not pushing too hard! Definitely keep your pace down as you build up your fitness (you will probably find that your pace naturally increases as you progress through the programme anyway) Either way, taking it easy is the safest way to progress ‘comfortably’ and injury free.🤞Sounds like Fluffy dog enjoyed her run too - it must be great to have a running companion!🙂🐕
Wet well done on your run 👍 Dogs are great running pals, they get us out there! what type of dog is Fluffy? I run with Mr Squiggy a mad Springer who loves chasing squirrels 🐿!!
