Gutted. First run where I have given up, I did 5 mins and my calves were seizing, it was so painful, stretched and tried again but same thing happened. Decided to walk my route so if anything I got some excersise, but really frustrated π¬ my asthma has been really bad the last few days with all the pollen and sudden heat so that didn't help either π body I love you but sometimes π
Nonetheless i shall be out for the first run of week 7 after a days rest π hopefully drinking lots of water and getting some salt might help calve issue

No harm in giving yourself a few more days off if you need it. Before you next try make sure you are doing dynamic stretches if you feel the need to stretch, against static stretches. I just do the brisk walk and find thatβs enough to loosen the legs up.
My asthma has also been terrible the past few days. Even just walking I've needed my inhaler more than usual. Tried run 1 of week 4 today. I'm a little behind you. Managed the first three minutes run then just couldn't catch my breath at all. Walked back for my inhaler and once I had taken a little extra of that, I restarted and managed no problem. Asthma can really get in the way at times eh ?
Not really helpful with your pain I'm afraid but I have had knee pain. Making sure I drink alot more water and bought some supports for my knees. Also took painkillers half an hour before heading out and all this together seems to have made a difference with the pain.
Well done for walking it and not just giving up which is what I would have been tempted to do π good luck when you are back out on your next run
I agree with k8nno, the only stretches to do before you run should be dynamic stretches (eg where you swing your leg back and forth, or side to side). Held stretches on cold muscles do more harm than good, so do those at the end of the run. Some stretching exercises on a non run day might be useful too. Got my fingers crossed for next time for you π€πͺ
Oh AliceInThePalace! The first spanner in your works π€¦ββοΈ but don't despair. Another lesson - be kind to yourself and above all be patient. Your legs cramped for a reason so think about it. Rest up and go again. You'll get there π
