Week 9 Run 1

Well here I am first run of the final week ๐Ÿ™‚! Stuck to my plan and had a nice and steady run, couldnโ€™t resist a wee attempted sprint the last minute tho ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚! Anyway 4.76km in the 30mins! I know I can go faster but to get that 5k in 30mins is going to hurt like hell ๐Ÿ˜‚! Onwards to run 2 on Thursday, and knees permitting will up the pace a wee bit, but wonโ€™t go daft yet ๐Ÿ˜œ!

Great run. 5k is certainly in those legs, but if itโ€™s gonna hurt make it wait! Enjoy Thursday

Thanks UFNM, I meant hurt as in effort not pain. Iโ€™m definitely not going to go for it if itโ€™s painful ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™m the same. Week9 Run 1 done. Thereโ€™s a 5k run in my village on Saturday and Iโ€™m thinking of doing it for my graduation run ?

All the very best for it! :)

Thanks. Iโ€™m pretty sure Iโ€™ll never do it in under 30 mins but I might give it a go anyway. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Heck, I'm delighted if I complete 5k in under 40 minutes! :)

I'm impressed at anyone that can run for 40 whole minutes....

Well, I only did that once and had to have 10 days off afterwards to let my achilles recover!

primaballerina profile image
primaballerinaโ€ข in reply toPianism

I can relate to that I have achilles pain in my left ankle and plantar pain in my right foot... I'm even considering having 'two' rest days at some point!!!

Cfc55 profile image
Cfc55Graduateโ€ข in reply toprimaballerina

Donโ€™t worry about taking 2 days off if u feel u need it! I have and have always had good runs after ๐Ÿ‘

2 rest days is normal for me at least once per week. I've had 2 now since my last run but still aching. May swim tomorrow instead...

A wee sprint at the end is definitely allowed! Just look after yourself and get to graduation without issues. :)

Thanks Pianism, Iโ€™m getting more positive! My knees seem to be recovering quicker between runs ๐Ÿ™‚

That's what I've noticed... recovery is so much quicker. :)

Wow that's great. I graduated last Friday but it took my next run before I managed 5k and not in under 30 mins unfortunately.

It is exciting and an achievment that Iโ€™m sure most of us thought was beyond us before we started ๐Ÿ™‚! Good luck with your final runs, hope you enjoy them, at least the weather seems set fair for our final week ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

Well done. I'm on week 9 now and while I'm a way off running 5K in 30 mins (maybe one day) I am able to up the pace at times and then slow to recover if necessary. Something I would never have thought possible when I started out.

It is amazing how much and how quickly we learn what we are capable of doing and how to adapt to complete each run!

My Run 2 in the morning following my night shift. I did 4.4km on first run so have a quarter of a mile to try and find. Varying my route slightly tomorrow to make it slightly easier and try and find that extra distance. Good Luck for your final two runs!

Cfc55 profile image
Cfc55Graduateโ€ข in reply toChris141

Thanks Chris good luck to you too!! Iโ€™ve used the exact same route through the whole 9 weeks and have my marker points so Iโ€™ve a fair idea how far Iโ€™ve gone, sad I know but Iโ€™m determined to give this 5k in 30 at least one real good go ๐Ÿ˜‚! Iโ€™m 250m down from my last run! Doesnโ€™t sound much but itโ€™s more than half way round a running track, and thatโ€™s a fair distance to find ๐Ÿ™„
