Felt absolutely delighted with my W3R1 yesterday. It actually felt pretty easy. But now I see from the google spreadsheet that it’s considerably shorter than all other weeks. Now, I’m still happy with how I managed my first week 3, but very interested to know why it is shorter?
Shorter week 3? : Felt absolutely delighted with... - Couch to 5K
Shorter week 3?
Well done on your run.
In W3 you run for exactly the same duration as W2, but the intervals are adjusted, introducing two longer runs and fewer walking intervals.
The progression is gentle, giving your body the opportunity to become comfortable with the demands and adapting you physically, although you may not have noticed that just yet.
Stick with the plan.........it is proven over twenty years, with probably millions of satisfied customers.......it works!
Welcome to the forum TigerBiscuit, you seem to be very happy with your running and especially run 1 of week 3.
IannodaTruffe has answered your question, I will wish you happy running, onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 3. 😊
I don't know WHY the plan works, but it sure does
Week 5 is feared - SEEMS like a huge jump but, like most, I didn't figure the percentage increase rather than the time increase so it's NOT the jump it appears to be.
Was I ever pleased when I finished week 5!!
Wow was I ever disgruntled and confused when I week 6 the programme seemed to be making me regress!!! 😂
It's all about having our bodies adapt and adjust really, just like Ianoda says .
The "5k" part is a huge distraction from that as it implies "speed and distance". Why it was included in the title has been discussed to death already and will be in future also Best guess is it sounds more alluring than "Couch to 30 minutes in 9 weeks " 🙂
Biggest mistake I made when I did the programme first was hurry it. I did it all again at the start of this year after a dislocated hip sidelined me for months and I just ran it at my ease. First time, I was too focused on graduating, this time I just focused on how to run "well"
It was a lot more fun, interesting and productive Less than ten percent graduate "on time" or with 5k anyway
So, hope this is helpful and wishing you many happy miles in your future
