So ran 5k today. Surprised myself. Used couch to 5k week 7 which was 25 mins but then kept on going. Took my 8 year old son as well. He has never done long distance. He races as school but that’s about it. He was amazing. Faster than me. He finished at least 3 mins ahead of me and that too he kept looking back and slowing down for me. Running will be the thing we do together.

Congratulations Nomad2001 and your son for running your first 5K parkrun this morning, it's just possible that your son ran it in under 30 minutes, lovely photo of both of you. 😊 🏃

I think he quite possibly can. My time was 35mins and he finished a few mins before me whist going slow. That’s a good time right?

If he's slightly over the 30 minute's now, it won't be long with a little training until he can run a sub 30 minute 5k at a parkrun, your time also at 35 minutes was also very good.

. 😊 🏃

Congratulations on your first Parkrun. It’s lovely to share the experience with your Son. I run also at Parkrun with my 9 year old Son. We’ve become Parkrun buddies. I love it and the weekend would not be the same without Parkrun on a Saturday morning.

Well done, you got a great time too.

Ha ha me too. I’m turning into Gollum and the red 50 T-Shirt is my precious.😂😂 I’ve 30 done since this morning, 20 more to go. It seems a long way off. But I’m getting it this summer.

How lovely to share this with your son. Mine joined me on my first two Parkruns and he proudly sports his barcode wristband, but now he’s back to rugby training so we have less opportunity. Enjoy x

Thank u! It was wonderful doing something we both enjoy. Usually it’s either me having to do something with the kids or the kids tagging along to something I do. So finding running is almost life changing.

Well done Nomad! I've just done Week 7, can't wait to do my local Parkrun in Huddersfield, think I'll wait til the end of Week 9 though, was a bit out of puff today! :)

I wouldn’t wait. I was the same as u but as it was half term and the only Saturday I could take the kids, I decided to go. But was pleasantly surprised. Ppl are walking , with buggies and dogs. So if you can’t run all the way, just walk!
