Week 7 Run 1

Tonight I ran my first run of week 7 on a cold dark dry night. Well I did it took great care of the right calf with no issues only to find the left calf cramped up at around 14.5 mins so over halfway so decided to continue and change route to less hills. Well I completed it so now have run 25 mins twice now so no fluke. Not as far as the first one but still ran a good 2.3 miles non stop. If I can do it you all can do it. Listened to my music and ran. Run two on Friday hopefully the calf will be ok after a load of water and bananas. Good luck all.

Nice and steady and look after your legs. I've bought some compression sleeves and am trying them out during and after running. Early results seem very favourable!

I actually wonder if it’s the socks I am wearing as they seem rather tight now the legs are beginning to change shape through muscles forming

Worth trying something different to see if it has a positive effect.

May try sports socks/trainer socks no not quashing calf muscles

I’m around the same stage as you. Completed wk7 run 1 Monday, no real probs, quite enjoyed it really. Run 2 this morning was a real struggle. I could quite easily have given up after 10 minutes..... but didn’t ! Don’t know why some days are so much easier than others. By the way, might be worth trying a Magnesium spray on the calves. I use one as I get cramp in the foot at night ( always suffered with it) and it really helps to relax the muscles. Epsom salts in the bath should have the same effect.
