I'm on W6R3 and loving the programme. I want to run more than 3 times per week but the programme says to have a day of rest in between each run. I'm working away this week and want to condense my runs meaning I won't have break. Any issues with this? I want to and feel I can do more. I have been a regular gym goer for years, rubbish at cardio but have strength which is probably helping me on this programme.
Excuse the pun but I don't want to run before I can walk )
Advice please.

The advice is to run with at least a one day break, most people who do C25K run 3 days a week on the same days, so there are on at least at some point during the week 2 days break. You could have 4 days running if you began your first run on a Sunday then Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday then continued every other day until you graduated, I do believe that is too much, I think sticking to the same days a week and having at some point 2 rest days is better.
Sadly no starting fitness can make up for the development of muscles for running... and you risk injuries that can set you back for months by not resting. A week off would be by far safer.
As a new runner, regardless of your general fitness, you need to take at least one rest day for at least the first six months of regular running, otherwise your injury risk will soar.
When you run you create microtears in your muscles which repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while running.
No rest, no repair, no strengthening and so increased injury risk.
What is the hurry?
You need to build a strong runner's body before running on consecutive days.
Injury could easily stop you from running for days, weeks or even months.
Pack your trainers and kit and run whilst away. I travel often for work and find my tracksuit and trainers fit comfortably in my carry on.
Last week I travelled to Scotland and ran my mid week 5k around Edinburgh. Not only was it nice to see a bit more of the city, it only took 40 minutes out of an agenda full week and allowed me to reflect on workshops and meetings. That way you respect the much needed rest days.
Great advice people. Good to know the science behind the advice too. I'd be gutted if I got injured so alternative rest days it is. Love this community and the knowledge therein
