Week 1 complete

I have wanted to run for a while now but am pretty overweight and felt too embarrassed to give it a go. My sister told me about this app and I have just finished the first week. I actually did it half way through tge first time before conpleting my first full walk/run.So pleased and totally over feeling self conscious which is an amazing feeling!

Great running and wonderful progress mentally. You’re going to amaze yourself a lot on the way... and letting everyone else see how awesome you are is good. Just by being seen out there you will inspire others like yourself to think about running. Enjoy week 2.

Well done for doing it. I finished mine end of last year and after graduating I had a bit of a break. I have been re running week 9 for the last few weeks and going to do a park run on Saturday. It’s a really good app.

Keep going you can do it!

You’ve done amazing!! 🙌🏻 No need to feel self conscious, if you’re street running most people in cars etc... are generally thinking ‘I wish I had the up and go to do that’ 💪🏻

Great going, this programme really works, just believe in it and believe in yourself and before you know it you’ll be enjoying running for 30 minutes.

Well done. Having done the plan when I was very overweight my biggest lesson was how amazing my body felt as I started to get fit. I was self conscious but now I have the brighest running leggings possible (they make me smile) and I'm out there with the best of them. Follow the plan, enjoy learning to run and enjoy being out there doing it.

I am still classed as obese (just) I am about embark on week 7 which is 25 minutes running no more walking only the warm up and cool down!

Amazing. Well done. I felt exactly the same when I started last Sunday. Yesterday I did my W2R1 and was feeling slightly nervous about the 90seconds running....I needn’t have been! People keep saying on here trust in the programme and I totally do now. Plus even after a week I feel a difference physically and mentally.

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Keep going! Getting over being embarrassed is something many of us struggle with. You are doing such a good thing for yourself - what’s the alternative?? You are on the way to being fitter and healthier and how good is that?! I am really enjoying C25K (3 weeks in) but still hope no one that I know sees me when I am out running. I’m so much happier doing this than being in a sweaty gym!

Absolutely well done. I know exactly what you mean about being a bit overweight and thinking everyone is looking at you. It’s a horrible feeling. But at the end of the day you got out there. 🥳🥳. I am on week 8 and feel s real sense of achievement. Keep going. 😊

I also felt self conscious about running to start with; I was over weight and very very unfit, but I figured at least I’m doing something about it. So you go for it, you’ve made a start and that’s brilliant keep up the good work, the programme really works, before you know it week one will be a distant memory.😀🏃‍♀️

Well done. As time goes on , fitness will grow, weight if eating and exercising properly will fall off you and you will become more confident in yourself. It’s so hard setting off for first time but you can do it

Well done! I've just finished week 2. Went along the river yesterday and got passed by lots of people running much faster than me, but I didn't care! No idea how I'm going to manage 3 mins next week though!

Well done you - you've done the hardest part by getting out there! Enjoy 😁

It really is a great feeling isn’t it? Starting week 2 tonight, I am also less self conscious when I realised that no one was actually taking any notice if me and one “real jogger” even nodded to me as he ran past!

Good luck, keep us posted🏃‍♀️

Well done :) I completed week 1 yesterday too. I also suffer with anxiety and embarrassment doing a street run, but whilst out yesterday there was a couple running together, clearly been running a lot longer than I have, they lifted their heads, smiled and waved.

I later went past a few more runners and walkers and each said hello or smiled and it made me realise I'm out. I'm not on the sofa. I've taken that first step to improving my fitness.

Some people may judge me and wonder why I am walking in sports gear but they don't see me 90 seconds later when I'm running. Those who see me running whilst driving past me are probably thinking fair play to me for taking that step even when it's cold outside and I just want to sit in with a brew and relax.

I felt much better about the steps I'm taking after completing yesterdays run and I'm looking forward to my run for week 2 tomorrow morning.

It's nice to read about other people at the same stage as I'm at. Will keep an eye on your progress as we go x

I'm travelling 2 hours to see my best mate for her 30th tomorrow for the day and then 2 hours back in the evening so having to make sure I get up early to do the run in the morning! Will put a post to say how it went. Good luck on your run tomorrow! We can do this :)

I know how you feel, I’m overweight and have only run in the dark so far. W3R1 completed after work today. I’m amazed I managed 3 minutes at a time and feel really motivated to continue 👍
