Blowing away the cobwebs

Hi all. So as I turned 35 last week I finally did my first run as a ‘veteran woman’. It’s been a little while since my last run on 19th October due to a variety of reasons. But mostly due to my son being in and out of hospital yet again. So after a 2 night stay at hotel Royal Bolton, we came home this morning. My husband took the kids for some fresh air so I could get out. As I’m now training for a HM as well as the GMR 10km I’ve been plotting some longer runs for a Sunday with 2 x 5/6km runs in the week. My first long run starts at 10km. Half the HM distance. But it allowed me to set myself a baseline for May’s GMR. The second half was tough but I did intervals using the C25k mindset and amazingly I got just over 10km I’m 1:15!!!! Felt great as I’d told my husband that I’d aim for 1:30. 😀 here’s hoping for some normality back in our lives and back to running routine.

I also got to test out my new birthday running gear 😊❤️ the picture was taken by my daughter. She told me I look beautiful. If only I could see what she does rather than just the flaws. This is why I started on the running journey, so I can feel the way she sees me. That and to raise money for British Heart Foundation ❣

Well done you - I did 10.4km in 1 hour 20 ish on Saturday in Arnhem. Who'd have thought we'd be 10kers? I think we can get a 10kbadge now. Loving the gear, the watch and the time! Hope Flynn is back to happy sunny self. Brilliant to see you in the game!

Aww brilliant! Well done. I didn’t know that there was a 10km badge. I’ve signed up to a 10km race at the end of this month. On a whim 🙈 xx

Looking good MrsT 😎🏃‍♀️. Sorry to hear you've had to spend some more time in hospitals with your little guy, but glad you were able to take some you time and get a great run in! Nicely done on the 10k! Can't wait to join the 10k graduate club myself 😄

My next run is scheduled to be a 9k run. I'm planning on doing it Wednesday. Unfortunately work has prevented me from running this week ☹️ but at least my legs will be rested when I do finally get around to it

Good luck with the 10km training. If I can don’t anyone can. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to run the whole thing but for me the time is the key. Would to get under an hour for the Manchester Run in May. 😀

Brilliant work! That's a good time, my first 10k was almost exactly the same!

My wife is from Bolton, though she's been in Suffolk for the last 25 years her accent slips back to her roots occasionally! Good luck with the HM training, looks like we're on a parallel path as I'm training for one in April in Norwich, and hope the lad is ok.

Ok Mrs what you been up to? How did the race go?

Hi. It’s this Sunday. Feeling a little nervous if I’m honest. I’ve been struggling a lot with dealing with everything which in turn makes my fibromyalgia flare up and I just feel constantly exhausted. So I’ve rested with Sunday in mind. Xx

in reply toMrsT82

Rest up and best of luck hope this helps....
