Going back after a break.

I'm on a break from c25k after having surgery for endometriosis. I'm really missing running and looking forward to starting again next week. It'll be 3 weeks that I've not run for. When I stopped for surgery I'd just finished week 6. I'm thinking of restarting at the beginning of week 4 and seeing how it goes. I'm a bit nervous because of both the long break and the fact that I'm still quite lethargic and sore so not sure how it's going to go. I'm happy to drop back further if I need to but week 4 seemed like a reasonable start point to experiment with. Anybody have any thoughts or advice?

Sounds about the right place to start... go nice and gentle, remember that you’ve done it before, and stop if you get any pains... any run will do first time out. Relax and enjoy.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I chose week 4 because it gives me a few runs to get back into the swing of things before I have a continuous run to do.

Hi Racheles78 sorry to hear this. I had surgery earlier this year. I was not allowed to run for 6 weeks. Has your surgeon advised when you can start back? I ended up restarting , but you may not need to...

She said 2 weeks before I can run/swim/go back to work. It'll be 2 weeks this friday (but I didn't run for a week before surgery as I was exhausted from anxiety so 3 weeks away in total) and I'm planning a run the following monday.

Surgery is a worry - I hope you’ve got positive outcomes from it 😊 good luck in your running journey - it will help you in so many ways 👍

I was advised not to run for a month after my gall bladder surgery. I had o ky got to week 4 and was uncertain about my level of fitness. I did one run from weeks 1,2 and 3 to build my confidence and then continued with the programme. I can only fit in one run a week at present but am making steady progress and have had no surgery related problems.

Good luck with your return to running
