Week 7 Run 1 done

In the rain and wind, did it. 4.1K including the 5 min warm up and 5 min cool down with 25 mins running. I have three weeks to try and speed up or get a bit further ;-) as that’s two 25 min runs done successfully I no longer fear the long runs...just fearing the 5K fundraiser I’ve signed up to in December. I don’t want to make a fool of myself and not be able to do it. Any week 7 tips?

Just keep doing what you’re doing. You should be going a little further as you get towards week 9, but I wouldn’t recommend chasing speed while this programme is ongoing, just let it come.

Great job. You’re not gonna show yourself up, even if you need a little walk break... just have fun.

Thank you! I keep feeling the need to speed up bit I reckon slow and steady suits me. Got my PR a mile and two miles last night so that’s something, I guess that’s becaise I’m running more than walking now :-)

Yeah, and as you go further you’ll be able to go faster over the shorter distance... that one mile PB will be really easy to beat when you’re used to running 3 miles.

Sounds like you're doing a great job! Is it an organised fundraiser? If so, i'm sure the atmosphere will give you that extra bit of energy you need. I reckon if you're doing 4.1k already, you'll be great on the day :)

It’s a Santa Dash, what have I got myself into! A Santa suit by the looks of things. But it should be such fun. I’m hoping with three weeks of longer runs left I’ll be able to manage. And then next year I’m signing up to a park run and carrying on. Can’t belivev how much I’m enjoying this running malarkey ;-)
