Decided to try using the podcast of week 1 to increase speed. Plan was jog 5 mins in the warm up walk....run as fast I can in 60 seconds, jog in 90 second recovery x8 and the jog for 5 mins at end. Well you'll be pleased to know that I achieved the 1st 5 min jog and all the fast runs but OMG after the runs all I could do for the 90 seconds was stumble forward in slow walk gasping air!! And at the end could not do 5 min jog but had to walk, and not briskly at that!!!!However, it does feel like I've had a very good workout. Might just try it again next week
For all those just starting I now remember how long those 60 seconds are and how fast the 90 seconds go! Keep going

Just left a post on ClearlyAMs blog saying I might try this but your description doesn't sound like much fun.......might try it once to see how it goes. Let us know how you get on with this plan.
couchto5k.healthunlocked.co... (link to my blog) - I did mine a bit differently - walked for 5mins - then started sprint/ jog etc then walked at the end... I was so relieved about the walk at the end coming! Anyway it's all progress and yes - anyone in week 1 - 60s IS a long time... ! Well done Ali! X
chuckling - there should be some kind of warning with C25K - likely to produce runners who of previous sound mind who then challenge themselves to sprinting about after a couple of months and start thinking about races...
like blueboots I want to know a bit more about your new approach...
That's one of the things I'm considering doing after I graduate on Friday, going back to the beginning but fast run/jog instead. May try it once and see how I get on....
I'm definitely going to give this a go, although it does sound really hard! I'm on the 2nd week of B210K and having no trouble with the distance, but I'm just not getting any faster. And besides I miss Laura, this Samantha lady is no substitute!
I'm going to keep at this using week 1 but not for every run (next one on Saturday will be a longer one as hopefully going out with a friend) Will keep doing it until can do a jog in the walk bits! May take some time. Will let you know how I get on
