W7R2...bit of a fail 🤔

I normally run on the treadmill; some strange idea to step outside today! Following a late (boozy) night I did my warm up walk in the treadmill and my husband joined me for the run... I lasted 10 mins. Dizzy, followed by pounding headache, and a bit of nausea 🙈

Walked home via local shop and purchased a lucozade sport - feel better but what calories I did earn was taken away with the drink 😏

I will do this run again tomorrow - on the treadmill and with a clear head!

I’ll leave the great outdoors for a later date

Sounds a lot like dehydration. The boozy night before would be a factor in that. Make sure you take on plenty of water and nonalcoholic drinks the day before a run.

Graphic information alert: a clue that you are dehydrated can come from the colour of your urine. It should be a very pale yellow and if it’s a deeper yellow that’s USUALLY a warning that you’re dehydrated. Only ‘usually’ as some foods, notably beetroot, can cause the same colouring.

Running while dehydrated is a very unpleasant experience, best avoided, so think of the day before a run as a hydration day. Doesn’t mean you can’t have an alcoholic drink or two, if you make sure you balance their dehydrating effect with sufficient water etc. But if you’re feeling the effects the next day then that is likely due to dehydration and it’s wise to address that before attempting to run any significant distance.

I know haha strangely my urine was/is clear but I should have known better, just because I felt ok to start with..

... so don’t be put off running outdoors if it was actually dehydration that caused the problem 😉

I’m sure it was my night before - I won’t be put off but it’s a bit warmer in our log cabin 😏 albeit boring: once I get going again, I’ll give it another go. Thank you

You kinda knew that wasn’t going to be great before you ever stepped on the treadmill, didn’t you ?! It’s not a fail though. Remember the first rule of C25k: The only run you fail is the run you don’t go for.

Aww yes another friend said similar - I did run for 10 mins; last time I ran outside I waited anxiously for Jo W to tell me to start walking after 90seconds 😏

I know. Sometimes I think Sanjeev has gone for lunch, the time it takes him to tell me ninety seconds are up 😁

No f words please... you know why it was a tricky run... hydration is essential at all times and especially after a night of hedonistic pleasure:)

Slow and steady... some healthy food and a good night's sleep and head onwards:)
