Feeling pretty gutted as I just gave up on my first run to date. I started much later than usual and it’s too hot for me. Plus I’ve had two days off for a busy weekend of a bit of overindulgence, which I’m sure doesn’t help. Feel a bit down about giving up but this heat is a killer for me. Ugh. Think I’ll try again tomorrow as I only managed 15 mins of the 25. I miss the post run buzz and sense of achievement. 😔
W7R2 - first fail: Feeling pretty gutted as I... - Couch to 5K
W7R2 - first fail
Don't feel down. You tried and your not giving up soldier! 🙂 Just channel your inner snail, take it nice and steady on your next 🏃
So it isn’t an F. An F is sat on the couch instead of trying.
Cut yourself some slack - life is tough and we are trying to run on top of it all.
Overindulgence probably means you are dehydrated and that alone can kill a run. Add the heat and the tiredness...
When you try again - and it might be better to leave a day’s gap as you did most of the run - just go slow. Crazy slow. Just make it to the end. There is no speed prize in this competition x
I’ve really learnt that I cannot handle heat, so at least it was a learning experience if nothing else! My early morning runs are sooo much easier! Thanks for the encouragement. It really helps. I just hate that I couldn’t finish it but yes, life is hectic, esp with three small kids, and I guess sometimes things slip. Preparing to pick myself up and try again soon.
Big hug Starbeas and remember what an achievement Wk7 actually is! Boy...I hope I make it there myself! From where I’m sitting in Wk2, I think you’re amazing! ❤️
Ah, thank you! I was where you were just a few weeks back and I couldn’t even begin to imagine running for 15 mins, let alone 25. I’ve never run in my life. But this program is amazing and if I can do it, so can you. Trying to put today into perspective and see it as a small hiccup! Good luck with your journey. It’s an amazing thing, feeling yourself getting stronger and more fit. Enjoy it!
Overindulgence and heat are not friends. You need to run on light stomach and well hydrated. What I mean by well is the day before, not before the run.
If you don’t tolerate heat, avoid the peak sun, run early or late in the day, put the cap on, dress light, put some cool shades on and seek shade. If feeling weak stop, go home and have some ice cream, no reason for guilt trips, you’re human not a machine.
