So tomorrow I was due to run w4 r1 and I have come down with a massive cold which will mean no work for me! I’m so scared that my routine will go out the window and I’m afraid to miss a run. I know I need to miss it (I can’t currently get off the sofa) but it really bothers me !

Chill! You can go two weeks before your body even thinks about not needing that fitness, you’ll lose nothing. You’ll come back 100% fresh and the rest will do you good, even the pro runners take a week off every now and then. Bonus is you’ll be off work 😂 but daytime TV really does suck 🤪

Get yourself over the cold, that next start line will still be there.

Arrrgggghhhh Scruffbag134, that is bad that you can't run week 4 run 1,I do feel so sorry for you because of your massive cold, however, do not dispair, once you get better and I hope that won't be too long you can resume running, depending on how long your off, if its less than two weeks, continue with week 4, if it's longer, hopefully not, perhaps go back to week 2 or 3,I wish you a speedy recovery. 😊

The very fact that you're concerned about getting out of the habit suggests to me that you won't :) It makes no sense to run when ill, just like it makes no sense to go to work when ill. Both will still be there when you're fit again.

I feel for you but make sure you get better and UnfitNM is right you have a couple of weeks to get back to it. Take care of yourself and you have something to look forward to after the rest.

Same thing happened to me at start of wk9 - that was last week and ended up with flu so this week is out too! Determined not to let the break set me back too much! Hope you are on the mend soon :)
