Went out after work as promised. 3.3 km. pulled up simply because I was way too hot and in full sun. But I was pleased I even got that far. Purely heat that got me. Legs ok. 👍🏼😊
Weird isn’t it. I started my running in the cold of winter and usually at night and I just can’t cope with this at all. Happy to sunbathe but definitely not run!! Also menopausal so that really does not help!!!! 😬😜
Hey Jude same here in that front which doesn’t help with much. But it’s funny reading your posts as we graduated at the same time... you are sooo lucky that you can even run , but we were winter running babies so it is gonna be tougher in the sun!
Yes I agree. I really struggle in this heat. I’m not a morning person and by late evening I don’t feel like a run!
I’m missing the “have to” mentality of the program.
I’m also struggling to be consistent in reaching 5k. I went out on Friday to do the park run course and ended up walking the hills. So I don’t count that and feel like a failure.
My new thinking is that I just aim to go out and run 3 km every other day and if I feel I can go further then so be it.
Don’t get me wrong, I feel so much fitter. I dug out a pond from scratch yesterday and built the whole thing on my own as well as lugging logs around. I definitely couldn’t do that last year without feeling terrible. I’ve got no aches and pains, my posture and core strength have improved as well as lost half a stone. But I need a routine. And some cold weather? 🤷🏼♀️😂
Yes I did feel better. Bit disappointed I couldn’t run further but I was way too hot as there was no shade. I’m the same. I’d love to wear baggy shorts instead of Lycra but I’m not sure the world is ready for that...🙄
I sympathise. I completed c25k about 18 months ago and soon afterwards fell back on to the couch blaming shift work, lack of time etc. I recently completed it again and am trying to run 3 times a week but I sometimes only manage twice. I really want to make it a regular part of my routine (except I don’t have a routine...part of the problem) because I really need to get and stay fitter than I am and this is an effective way of doing it. Plus it does destress you better than wine! So I guess it’s a combination of thinking about what motivated you to do this in the first place and making yourself go out for a run even when you’d rather not bother. I put runs in my diary so that I feel bad if I miss them, and I reschedule them. Or you could set yourself goals, either distance or speed, or try the podcasts, if you need more structure. I am beginning to actually enjoy my runs and miss running if I can’t get out for a few days, which must be a good sign! Good luck with keeping going. I think you’ll feel less crap if you do.
Thanks for your comments. I will take my running shoes to work and will run by the canal there after work. If I don’t run because of the heat I will at least walk. 😊
