Not looking forward to W7R3 tomorrow. First time running on a Saturday... good chance there’ll be other runners out there. So far it has just been occasional dog walkers. Yesterday was my first encounter with another runner. As she casually sped past me I consoled myself with the fact that she was probably 20 years younger than me and was wearing “proper” fitness clothing!
First encounters: Not looking forward to W7R... - Couch to 5K
First encounters
"Comparison is the thief of Joy..."
She only sped, until she was round the next corner... she only speeds for 1K...
You, however are a runner... slow, steady, relaxed running... out there and doing wonderfully!
Just relax into the lovely longer runs...let the newly forming legs find their happy pace..look around, take it all in and be proud.
Remember.. Gazelles get eaten...
Runners are the best people to meet when you're running yourself. I haven't yet met one who hasn't smiled and said hello.
To me they all seem faster, sleeker, better technique, but hey ho, does it matter? No!!
I did it! I don't know where the other runners were. Still asleep most likely. A few dog walkers once again, some solo cyclists and one flock of "goldfish" (lycra clad road cyclists). Two amazing things happened. First I saw a snail crossing the path which I took as nature telling me that speed is totally irrelevant. Secondly I found I was actually running faster..I thought Laura had forgotten to tell me there was one minute left when I reached the boat ramps. She waited until I crossed the railway line. That's week 7 done....not bad for an old chook.
