Have been reading comments on here for about two months and, finally, did my first c25k run yesterday and didn’t give up as I suspected I might! I have a couple of health issues which have made me reticent to try before but, for whatever reason, I got up yesterday morning and thought, right...whatever happens, happens (my health issues are not so bad they require medical opinion before I started). And what happened? I made it...very uncomfortable but also a tad proud. I ran with my daughter who said she was also unfit (hhmm...she has no idea about unfit - haha!) and that really helped. We have the next three sessions ‘booked’ in - that way, we’re less likely to pretend we don’t have the time. I think a lot of this is going to be as much about mental strength and determination as physical capability.

Well done, that’s brilliant! This forum is just fantastic for keeping you motivated and cheering you on, always worth posting if you ever feel a bit less keen 😉 Are you using the app?
Hi Jazzyrunner
Thanks. I’m sure to need the forum. We’re using the dulcet tones of Sarah Millican.
Congratulations to you and your daughter on your first run!! Now you know you can do it and you’ve got the scary part over and done with, bet you feel great. Make sure you’ve got the app(I had Jo Whiley as my coach and she got me through every run). Have fun and keep smiling x
Well done. First step is always tricky, but you’ve started now and you’ve done the hard part! Advice from me is: 1. Don’t look too far ahead in the plan. It might scare you, but when you get there, I promise you will be ready whatever you might think. 2. Don’t try to be Mo Farah! Channel your inner snail and go at a pace that’s right for you. 3. Enjoy it! 4. Check in here lots. There are loads of great people full of help and support. Welcome to the running world.🏃♀️🏃♀️
Well done, as everyone here says, starting is the hardest part and you've done that now so you absolutely should feel very proud. I've just finished week 2 and am still it utter amazement that I'm doing this and haven't given up and am actually enjoying it!
Keep going, you're already doing brilliantly 😁👍
Well done that first run nearly killed us we thought we would never breath normally again. This morning we ran 8 mins twice and felt great it’s a good journey to be on
enjoy running and post them so we can follow your progress
Hi Sola56. I know what you mean about the never breathing normally again. 90 mins after I’d finished my breath was back but my face was still red as a beetroot - haha! It’s so good to hear from people who have been through it and carried on. In some ways, I’m expecting the second run to be the worst since I know what’s coming! X
Red faces are to e proud of
the second run felt shorter each time we run the time feels less and around week 4 we thought oh is that it? at the end of the half hour
we are looking forward to week 5 run 3 on Tuesday
No, that first “out the door” is the worst, and you’ve already done that. 👏🏼 The rest is practice and progress. The plan is really well worked out to keep you moving forward but ready for the next step. If you ever find you don’t finish a run, then it was a practice run and you’ll do it next time!
If you’ve been watching the forum for a while, perhaps you’ve read the pinned post by IannodaTruffe called FAQs. If not, do so. It’s a great read & full of all sorts of stuff you need to know plus lots of links out to more stuff you might need later. 😊👍
Welcome, and happy running. 🎉
Well done, that’s amazing!
