I posted this morning that I was going to approach this evening's first run of week 4 with a positive mental attitude - 'This is an opportunity to see what I can do' instead of 'Oh no, am I going to be able to make it?' - and said I'd post after the run to say if the difference in attitude made a difference to the run.
IT DID!
It was not a doddle, it was not easy, but I did it! I ran consecutively for 5 minutes, not once but twice! Added to the 2 x 3 minute runs, that means I ran for 16 minutes this evening! And when I started out on this adventure on 1 October I only managed 5 of the one-minute runs and had to sit down for ten minutes after the first 3.
When I got in, I said to my Echo Dot, 'Alexa, tell the trumpet section ... I DID IT!' and she played me a fanfare. I felt I'd earned it!

Take it a week at a time, don't worry about what's two or three weeks ahead. You build up to the longer runs in stages, so it does seem a lot more manageable than you might think. I'm 58, overweight, and although I swim a lot, I haven't done any other kind of exercise for years, but having got this far, I know I can make it all the way, and you will, too
