W4R1 - PMA is everything

Good morning, runners! Tonight I am going out for my first run of Week 4 and I am trying a new tactic. Instead of thinking all day, 'Oh no, will I be able to do this?' (which is what I've done at the start of every new week) I am going to tell myself, 'Great! A fresh opportunity to see how well I can do!' That's the theory, anyway! I know a positive mental attitude can make a big difference, so I'll check in after the run and let you know how I got on.

I don’t think having a NMA is any use at all Not for this caper 😃👍. Don’t be at home to self doubt 😁💪

Good luck. You’re only going very slowly and there’s zero pressure Take your time and enjoy yourself 🙂

I like it! Keep thinking positive and allow the belief to grow too. Getting to week 4 from the sofa is the hardest third of this IMHO, well done you!

I have just completed week 3 and for the first time am a bit wobbly about the next run! It’s a bit hilly where I run so getting timings right to avoid doing the whole of the final interval uphill is my main concern!!

I'm definitely going to use the one massive hill to my advantage tonight - the first run is 3 minutes, and when I arrive at the Sports Centre the hill is going down, so I will get that first run with a downhill advantage. What I've done in the past is do the rest of the session on the flat and then use the uphill part as my 'warm down' five minute walk.

I started running on the road and found the inclines really challenging. I now only run on towpaths - which are flat and softer and of course so beautiful to the eye.

Yes and believing the app too. If the app says I can do this - I can!

Yes, I didn't quite believe the app at first, but everyone says trust it, and that's worked so far! Plus the encouraging (and sometimes surprised) posts from people who have succeeded even when they didn't believe they could.
