Wow!

I really can't believe what's happened to me in Week 5! I had a vey restless night on Thursday worrying about W5R1 - I just couldn't see how I could run 4 lots of 5 minutes. I really forced myself to put my running gear on and get out of the door, taking the dog too for moral support. Then I logged on and found that there were only 3 5 minute runs not 4!! That stupidly made a huge difference to my mental attitude and I sailed through it! I then had a 2 day break and forced myself to go to the gym last night - 2 8 minute runs 😫😫!! Ok I thought, I'll just go really slowly and see if I can keep going. Well, I'm not sure what happened but it was almost easy!! It really felt as if someone had switched my stamina switch on and unbelievably I wanted to cut down the walking and run for longer. This really can't be me!!

I had to run again this morning as I won't be able to later this week so the dog and I set off - 20 minutes continuous running 🏃😧. We set off slowly with me doing mental calculations about which route would cover most downhill or level ground! I did it!! Readers I ran for 20 minutes without stopping! My Fitbit showed I averaged 6' 51". Not bad! I did have to walk back (mostly uphill!) for 30 minutes though! I DID IT!! I honestly don't think I will face such a huge psychological challenge again in this programme. I now trust the way it is designed and believe I can graduate and achieve 5k runs - if I stick with it and listen to Sarah! If I can do it - anyone can. Keep at it folks!!

Yep, the plan works alright😊..and you just went out and proved it too😄...

Nothing to fear or worry over, each run gets you ready for the next one. Each run you do is building your stamina.

Good luck with Week6. Stick to the plan, and take your rest days...Go you😊...

Averaged less than 7 mins, that's a dream. Very well done you. What an achievement

I completed W5R1 last night. It felt great to complete the run however I don't know if I am covering enough km at this stage. I covered 1.65km. Can anyone offer advice on this. Thanks

I wouldn't worry about distance at this stage as long as you're running and walking for the number of minutes allocated that's fine. Well done! Keep at it!

I found the same thing. It seems like such a huge step up. Week 6 almost feels like going back a step. I've got w6r3 to complete then it's just a matter of running a few minutes more each week (I'm trying to convince my legs of that). Keep it up and trust the plan 👍
