After the deep joy of of W5 R3 I mean my legs were far from joyful and my lungs were in fire but I was euphoric. I moved onto the deceptive W6 R1 it was fine and it got completed. I ran with my fitness freak friend who even said it seemed longer and more of a stretch for some reason and we both agreed that Jo was fiddling with the times and toying with our emotions😉.
On the middle 8 minute run I started to fly along there was a decent amount of pace to it and it was sustained (silly I know) it wasn't intentional as I've been mindful of pacing all the way through but it just felt right if that makes sense.
I was doing every other day religiously and still would in an ideal world but life has got in the way and it's been every 3 days which doesn't seem to effect it in anyway so I feel less pressure to squeeze in a run if I'm too busy.
I have noticed my feet more and as I land especially my left foot I roll off the big toe in quite defined way. This isn't causing any issue as such but wonder if it had anything to do with the shin splints in weeks 1 to 3?
Either way I've started to look around for shops that do gait analysis for my reward if/when I finish the course.

If you land heel first it’s bad... toe first is hard on the legs, but not necessarily bad (pros run that way a lot) but flat is easier on everything... same with the inside or outside first really... Kipchoge rolls off his little toes for what it’s worth! The weird thing is nobody actually knows what is correct! They decided what was normal a long time ago almost as a wet finger in the air job... and that was called neutral... 10% of us run that way, so it’s not “normal” Anyway, I digress... great shoes will help!
Great job on W6R1... I saw the plan before I ran any of it and that run stood out... nice to see an established guy thought it was tough too.
Now that I’m on wk6 I seem to ‘jumble’ along much more than I used to. Maybe it’s the type of runs right now? I jumble only when I suddenly think about my gait.
I’ve had gait analysis and it can’t do any harm to go along and see. Interesting actually. At the very least, they sell you some great socks.
😂 I love sock shopping, especially amongst the really expensive shoes... they got all excited when I picked up one of the 4%, £200 Nike’s last week... i tried some on... they were nice... I bought some socks and a water bottle. I’ll wait for 6% and get a discount on the 4%
Go you...a great run...Relax into the runs as you move on..I am not an expert but..if you have the correct shoes and correct socks..just run in a way that you feel is natural.
I've got to highlight the importance of correct shoes. I'm currently on the injury couch because of bad footwear with a sprained knee. Everyone should be gait tested and have new shoes at around week 5-6 when it becomes a serious pursuit. If not, then injuries will loom...
