Skipped straight to 30 mins

So w6 r3 was a 25min run I thought stuff it let's see if I can do 30. Had to stop once right at the end for about a minute but finished the last minute running. Just done W7 r1 and did a full 30mins running. Very happy. This is the best app I've tried to get into running. Breaking it down into manageable chunks really works.

Just be aware that your cardio fitness will enable you to run further than your running fitness which can lead to injury or aches and pains which can become a problem later on. Well done on the 30 mins but just remember the formula/ intervals are there for a reason.

Totally agree with Avocado. Well done but don't make a habit of it😊 I met a lady in the local running shop who said that she had started C25k in May, but then gone on to run really long distances very soon after graduation. Result? Months off with knee cartilage trouble. She really wished she had taken it more gradually so that her muscle development etc had been in sync with the additional distance. I may be a wuz, but I really believe in sticking to the plan.

As they say, stick to the road, lads! (Don't worry, no werewolves about) but the c25k app is a road, so you need to stick to it, or the injury couch will becon...

Well done on your run, but as others have said, sticking to the plan is the only sensible route to becoming a runner.

Just because you can do something does not necessarily mean that it wise to do so. The progression of the plan is there for a reason. If you want, I can give you links to other fit runner's stories about doing too much too soon and regretting it for months after becoming injured.

You might get away with it........... you might not.........why take the risk?

What's the hurry?

Take care.

Thanks for the replies and advice guys. I think you all must be right but it's just I felt really good at the end of 25 mins so just thought what the hell, which makes what Avocado said ring true. I wasn't even out of breath but my legs were a bit sore. I guess I'll still to plan from now on.

Well done! I did on longer than supposed run a well, but then after pumping up my ego and self-esteem I went back to the plan. Sticking to it and believing in gradual progress, I completed the program with biggest achievement being running regularly 3x a week :)

Hi Mitton88. Great achievement!

You've already proved you can do it.

Instead of W4R3 I did a 5k parkrun, non-stop 32 minutes. And went immediately back to plan. It was great to take part in the 14th anniversary parkrun but it was a one-off.

We all want to see you get through the plan and graduate injury free.

Happy running! 😸
