Worried about getting to the 5k in 30 mins

Hey Everyone!

Just finished W6 R3 yesteray (the 25 minute run)! Woohoo! However, I only went 2.1 miles (and that included both 5 minute warm-up and warm-down walks), and I am worried about making it a full 5k distance by the end of W9? Did anyone else have this problem?

Just about everyone! It’s a target for after graduation 👍🏽 The target is running 30 mins non stop rather than running 5k. I’m still 34 min 5k and graduated a week ago.

Most folk... just get to the 30 minute runs.. that is all you need to do... the 5K may follow :)

Slow and steady is the way :)

Apparently about 90% of runners surveyed on this forum did not run 5k in thirty minutes. The graduation requirements are that you run 3x30 minutes in a week.

You are doing great, so don't worry.

My 20 minute run was just shy of 3k (including the walks). That would put me just over 4k if I could do the same pace for 30 minutes (also including the walks) so I’m way off 5k pace. But it’s nice to have an aim for after!

Yep like many others on here the 30 min 5k is a holy grail for me. On a very good week I can do park run in 39mins, I graduated in Nov. I am so pleased I can run for that length of time that the speed really doesn’t bother me. The programme has got me running , and so by the sound of it are you. Congratulations.

I did the same run as you yesterday. I've no idea how far I ran but I'm guessing it's similar to you. I'm just hoping to be able to run 30 mins eventually and like everyone else says once you achieve that then you can try to quicken your pace a bit.
