First Parkrun in the bag

I graduated from C25K about 6 weeks ago. Since then I've been running regularly, slowly increasing my fitness and on Saturday I did my first ever Parkrun. I have to say that it was great running with all the other participants and I positively flew around the 5km course in 27:44.

So for those of you still working your way through C25K I cannot recommend Parkruns highly enough. They were a great bunch of people and there is no pressure to go round in any particular time - it's up to you how fast you want to go - but what you will get is bags of encouragement and you might find you surprise yourself.

Anyway a really good goal to aim at and to keep your motivation going once you graduate.

Brilliant Dotson, that's great encouragement for new C25K graduates like myself thinking about taking part in Parkruns.

Your time is great for your first PR, really well done. May I ask what was your training regime during the period from graduation to PR ?

Thanks Jag. I've sort of been following the 10 is the magic number plan available at Bridge to 10k. See:

healthunlocked.com/bridgeto...

That said I'll all been a bit disrupted as, immediately after graduating I suffered a couple of calf muscle injuries. Now running in long compression socks which seems to help.

However, if you don't aspire to go further than 5K (and nothing wrong with that!) I'm sure one of the mods would be able to suggest a programme?
