Can anyone recommend some cheapish road running shoes - I'm getting a lot of pain in my hips the day after running so I think I might need better shoes. I know that I should really go and get gait analysis done, but I'm too self-conscious.

Road running shoes
Just go....next to you.. your shoes are your best asset...
I do need to go - I know that really! I've never run on a treadmill though - I don't know how!
Will you be more or less self conscious about stripping off for the physio several times rather than running on a treadmill in the supportive environment of a specialist running shop?
I could tell you what are my favourite road shoes, but those shoes may be totally inappropriate for you. Don't take pot luck by buying on random advice, please.
You have issues in your hips, so you definitely could benefit from a gait analysis.

I felt self conscious about going to a running shop as I don’t look like a runner (yet). They were great. Just asked me what type of running I wanted to do and where. The treadmill stuff was ok and they didn’t set it too fast or ask me to run for too long ( my fears). They were encouraging like this forum is so give it a try. Going during the week might be quieter than a weekend if you can.
You only have to ever see that particular shop assistant once... and as well as matching you to some damn comfy shoes, they may point out anything you need to work on in your running.
