For those who can't see the photo of my snazzy new Mizuno running trainers on the app, you can see them here: healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
After going on about doing this for weeks now, I finally emptied out my rainy day fund from my sock draw, and visited Alexandra Sports over in Portsmouth first thing this morning.
I was greeted by a friendly member of staff, who was clearly very well trained and knowledgable on the subject. He had a good look over my feet and knees and I did a couple of laps of the shop walking barefoot. He immediately noticed a couple of common issues that I had, I believe this was to do with a slight over pronation and a flattening arch. I then had a quick jog on the treadmill so that he could analyse my footfall, I've not run on a treadmill before - what a very odd experience that is... I think I'll stick to the road! You could definitely see what wasn't quite working from the video of my gait.
After sizing me up, he'd told me my selection would be slightly limited as I have wide feet, along with the specific support that I needed and went on up to the store room. He came back with a couple of boxes, A pair of Mizuno and a pair of Brooks. I ran with both pairs on the treadmill and even ran with one on each foot around the shop to compare the two, the brooks were very well cushioned but I did prefer the feel of the firmer Mizunos.
So... the rainy day fund didn't quite cover the whole cost but it was pretty much there £££! 😬
But I'm very pleased with My Mizuno Wave Paradox 5's and would highly recommend Alexandra Sports in Portsmouth for the fantastic service that I received, they were far more thorough than I was expecting and I would definitely recommend it to anybody who has not yet tried it out.
Looking forward to getting out and giving them a test drive now! 👟👟👟👟👟
