For those who can't see the photo of my snazzy new Mizuno running trainers on the app, you can see them here: healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
After going on about doing this for weeks now, I finally emptied out my rainy day fund from my sock draw, and visited Alexandra Sports over in Portsmouth first thing this morning.
I was greeted by a friendly member of staff, who was clearly very well trained and knowledgable on the subject. He had a good look over my feet and knees and I did a couple of laps of the shop walking barefoot. He immediately noticed a couple of common issues that I had, I believe this was to do with a slight over pronation and a flattening arch. I then had a quick jog on the treadmill so that he could analyse my footfall, I've not run on a treadmill before - what a very odd experience that is... I think I'll stick to the road! You could definitely see what wasn't quite working from the video of my gait.
After sizing me up, he'd told me my selection would be slightly limited as I have wide feet, along with the specific support that I needed and went on up to the store room. He came back with a couple of boxes, A pair of Mizuno and a pair of Brooks. I ran with both pairs on the treadmill and even ran with one on each foot around the shop to compare the two, the brooks were very well cushioned but I did prefer the feel of the firmer Mizunos.
So... the rainy day fund didn't quite cover the whole cost but it was pretty much there £££! 😬
But I'm very pleased with My Mizuno Wave Paradox 5's and would highly recommend Alexandra Sports in Portsmouth for the fantastic service that I received, they were far more thorough than I was expecting and I would definitely recommend it to anybody who has not yet tried it out.
Looking forward to getting out and giving them a test drive now! 👟👟👟👟👟
Oh dear you really are in the wrong business 🙄 PR obviously beckons you!! Hope one you didn’t have to remortgage your house and two you don’t feel grey wearing grey runners 🤪
Congratulations on your new pressie just hope you are not after Santa 🎅 Job 2!!
I’m going to be tapping you up for some more bargain hunting advice and leftovers recipe ideas I think Ibot, I’m going to have an empty Christmas stocking this year! 🎄
I’ve never noticed my skills as a salesman until you kindly pointed them out, but I do appreciate the career advice, maybe it is time to put the crayons down...
I know, I was kind of hoping for some really loud garish ones that I’d never be seen dead it for anything else other than running but they were both exactly the kind of thing I’d normally wear!
Very happy for you and your new Mizunos. As always, I envy everybody who has a choice. Me, my tiny feet, and high arch will stick to whatever is available and feels quite right
Honestly, my flat hobbit feet looked quite comical on the treadmill! I’m surprised they had anything suitable... especially the lovely pair I ended up with 😆 thanks IgaT x
I wish you many happy miles in them! And hobbits are great! I have a hight and eating habits of a hobbit. My parents must've found me in the Middle Earth Fortunately, my feet are very human, although very tiny.
Perfectly timed post ThunderSloth as I was looking for a recommendation for gate analysis on the south coast. The one I was recommend originally is closing down
I hope they bring you many happy miles of running and are worth the bread & water rations for a few weeks 😁
Oh fantastic, glad this might be useful to you Jogunlikely. They were very good - no pressure to buy, I think you can pay just to have the analysis if you don’t want to buy right away, or if you’d like to purchase elsewhere.
Haha! Yes me too! I don’t think I’ve ever spent that much on shoes before... but I’m going to make them work for it 😁
Very nice Thundersloth 🤩
Bet you can’t wait to go out in these bad boys! 🙌
