So Im getting my first pair of trainers ( ever) today. Cant avoid it any longer as I'm on week 3. Trouble is, Ive never been on a running machine so, will i be able to take the shame on the gait analysis machine at the sports shop.?

What shame????

Oh. I get it. The shame about "oh I'm doing something great for myself. How selfish. How shameful. I'm overcoming my limits, I'm pushing myself, I'm doing something amazing. Oh the shame of it!" Is that what you mean? Yeah, you'll handle the it perfectly fine :)

No shame there mate, I did it about 6 weeks ago, my first time on a treadmill, I quite enjoyed it and my new trainers are perfect.

Neither had I, neither had most of us . Go for it! You will soon be doing all sorts you've never done before 😁👍

We're grown-ups - we can hack it 🙂

No shame about it . you're only buying shoes 😃

It might not be on a treadmill. My running shop has me running outside amongst all the shoppers 😱

Or do you mean the shame when you fall off the back as you don't know how it works? That's what I'm worried about! Going in a couple of weeks and never been on one either. I'm sure they'll start it up and I'll immediately fall over....

No shame. Tell them that you're a beginner, working through C25K and have not run on a treadmill. Do they have any tips? Can they stay with you whilst you get started? Demonstrate before you have a go? Ask for help. That's why they are called Assistants, and that's why we suggested going to a proper running shop, and not your local warehouse. You want a real runner assisting you, not a 17 year-old Saturday-job worker who knows all about leisure sportswear.

I was like that when I decided to buy food trainers for my runs-the treadmill was slow tbh (&im a slow runner!) in fact it was actually dying more than I was after my C25K but the staff knew their stuff and I came away with a great pair of trainers

I still hang on to the bars every time I go for gait analysis. They don't seem to mind :D
