Well I did it, I went to Run4It in Dundee and got a full gait analysis.
I had gone to the Nike store in Glasgow who did an Analysis in a pair of standard shoes. This did show that I had overpronation. They showed me the Nike Structure 21 shoes. I didn't try them on as I was just looking.
Today when they were doing the analysis, it was with my bare feet. First they got me to go on my toes, then with the foot flat on the ground roll the feet out to the outside edge then on the inside edge to see how much movement I have in the feet and ankles. Then it was onto the treadmill and they videoed me running for a few seconds and showed me it slowed down. This really showed up the problem.
They tried me in the Nike Structure 21 shoes and showed me the difference that made to my run. The difference was visible.
They then got me to try the Mizuno Wave Inspire 14 shoe. The feel was immediately different. The Nike shoe I could feel it in the instep, but the Mizuno felt more comfortable and my running video was so much better.
Would highly recommend going for the gait analysis. Find a store that does it fully.
So I purchased the Mizuno. A bit brighter than I am used to, but who cares. If they do the job, that's the main thing.
I will let you know how the run goes tomorrow.
