Hi folks, My shins are so painful and are just not getting better. I have done everything I can and have been advised to do by all you kind folks but unfortunately I have have no other option than to take a couple of weeks break from and leg work to fully recover 😞 Totally gutted as love my running but I'm not giving up and I will be back as soon as I can!!!

I had this very problem half way through the programme, I kept telling myself if I just worked through it my shins would get better......they didn’t, so I took time out, a week of full rest made all the difference, I came back pain free and I have never had problems with my shins since. A good lesson for me about listening to your body and taking your time.

Good luck, enjoy the rest and come back strong 😀

Thanks, I will be back as I've come too far in every way to go back to how I was originally 😏

I had sore shins. As soon as it happened, I 'missed' a run day, so took 5 rest days. I was fine after that. I do lots of shin exercises daily (just a few minutes twirling my feet around when sitting down) and that seems to strengthen them and keep any pain at bay. Remember that whilst you're resting, your body is getting stronger.

Thanks, I'm doing gentle stretching whenever I can. Going to do some light spin later as that seems to help a bit. 🙂

It’s all in the legs. Strengthening the legs on your non run days is a good plan 🙂

What they said but maybe get a gait analysis done. Good luck.

Best of luck. I’ve just been out third time this week in my new gold plated trainers (well they should be at that price anyway) and wow what a difference! Hope it helps you 😉👍🏻

Definitely should be gold plated! Lol There appears to be no such thing as cheap running shoes

I’m on W4, run 1 was so painful in the muscle on my lower leg, I managed it and I’m dreading tonight’s run. I’ve bought some compression things to see if they help

We try to get fitter then do damage, so gutting 😢

I’m no expert, I’m 8 months in and run minimum twice a week. I’m always injured in one way or another 😂😂 sometimes I feel so decrepit I actually question the wisdom of running 😂😂 however I love how I feel afterwards and telling folks , yes I’m a runner. Albeit a slow one 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️😊 I’m sure eventually everything strengthens up and I’ve certainly toned up hugely so it’s worthwhile. Keep it up. Good luck

Good call. Maybe a few days to a week will be enough, but even if it’s two weeks you won’t go backwards... you will be able to just pick up where you left off.

Keep active while you rest the shins and you’ll find it even easier.

It's all about upper body and some gentle spin for the time being. At least I know now that it's just part of the process of my legs becoming stronger 😀 And as I have said many times there is no way I'm quitting!! Just love it too much 😀

You’ll probably come back feeling stronger and refreshed... I had a few days shortly after graduation and yesterday’s run felt so amazing and the legs were amazing.
