Back again after a break

After about 3 years of not being able to do any running due to a vicious attack of chronic plantar fasciitis, I’ve managed to complete C25K again. I have genuinely lost track of how many times I’ve completed it, but I first graduated about a decade ago 😂

I currently have a very vague ‘soreness’ in the back of my foot, but hopefully I’ll be able to sort that with the usual rolling, stretching, heel raises routines, and not have to go and have more electro shockwave therapy on it. Shockwave treatment is - by the way - absolutely fantastic for plantar! But also more than I can afford right now at £90 a session.

Pic of my boys as they came with me today.

Yes can get that as another sufferer, before doing c25k again it was the only thing that got stretched on a regular basis, not a pain I would like again.

Hi Maddee, so great to see you back again and the doggies of course 😀 👍 🐾. Sorry to hear you have been suffering with foot problems (I did wonder if you were ok 🤔). Well done for getting back out on the trails, and completing C25k again - fantastic. From your Canicross buddy & Squiggy (photo from this morning’s jog) 🐶

I’m sure you’ve thought of it , but just in case… check you have supportive, well cushioned trainers.

Plantar Fasciitis is beastly, big sympathy to you . It just seems so stupidly unnecessary to have these excessively painful hold ups to fitness and progress but some of us seem more prone. I had no idea what it was when it suddenly came on for me. Nor have I any idea what actually worked to shift it, I still feel faint echoes of it but its just like a tiny warning to not neglect my feet rather than discomfort.

Debilitating. Poor foot design I feel !!

Best wishes for a comfortable resumed running career.

Oh I absolutely have.

I first suffered over a decade ago when I was walking up and down hills a lot every day. I had some shoes that were supposed to be good, but actually they just weren’t the right design for my feet.

Hi Maddie, glad to see you back. My wife is suffering at the moment from plantar, did the electro shock treatment hurt? What did they actually do?

The first appointment was spent ‘learning’ my foot which was incredibly painful (for me) as they are finding all the worst bits. After that the first few treatment sessions were uncomfortable, but - like when you have a massage - it’s a good uncomfortable.

The machine sends a pulse into you, sort of like a TENs machine only stronger.

It felt like being pinged with a strong rubber band to me on the painful part of the heel. Not awful but not enjoyable.

I wasn’t sure it necessarily helped but the PF did shift eventually so it may have assisted .
