This evening is my first 30 minute run. I've only had to repeat one week so in 10 weeks I will have gone from barely being able to run to doing close to 5K. I measured one of my 28 minute runs last week and it was about 4.5k so I need to just pick up the pace a bit.
Hope you had a good run. Don't overstretch yourself too much on the last 2 runs - would be a shame not to finish die to injury. plenty of room to improve after graduation
Oh well done! That’s my ‘journey’ for this week too: W9R1 yesterday so fingers crossed we’ll both graduate before the week is out. I’ve been researching where I’m going to go with my new running skill from next week and, like you, I’m a little under 5k in 30mins so think I’ll consolidate for a number of weeks whilst exploring my options. It feels good doesn’t it. Happy running!
After graduating I found that I needed a new focus. I decided that going for more distance was more likely to provide enjoyment for me as a silver runner (particularly as I live in a beautiful part of the country) than concentrating on speeding up. As it happens I have speeded up gradually, but for me there is no magic in a 30 minute 5k and certainly no point in risking injury in the rush to get there. As others advised me, enjoy the moment when you complete week9 and then work out what you really want to do next.
