W3R1 Done! I think, not sure?!?! Confused :D

Ok so decided today would do my run after the dog walk. Getting back from a run and having to go out again straight away sometimes can be a bit of a downer. Had the full weekend off, though clocked a 5.5 mile walk on Saturday and still managed to clock up 12k+ steps yesterday with short dog walks and mowing the lawn :D

Perfect conditions today, such a relief. Sun shining but not too hot, nice coolish breeze. Didnt look at the running schedule tbh until I was on my walk and 3 mins seemed a little jump but wasnt worrying about it knowing I had run for longer before I bust my ankle.

Ran the usual route, with a couple of detours and unplanned jogs across roads when traffic eased to let me cross. Running at lunch time proved more problematic, must be a ghost with the amount of car doors that were opened or people just stepping out in front of me :( A pushchair on my last 90second run caused a detour up a cobbled path too, as I tried to get away from where it was busy.

Start of the last 3 minute run was uphill on that path, but with the rest all downhill or flat and found it more than manageable.

What threw me was coming to the end I wasn't as far on as I usually would be on the road when Laura announces the end of the run & time to rest walk. Had I gone too slow? Didnt feel so, I had walked when I was told to walk, ran when I was supposed to but it was almost like the app could have been running too fast or skipped some time?

strava.com/activities/18626...

I started my band (gear fit pro 2) same time as always - when laura says its time to start the 5 minute warmup walk, and ended when she told me I was done & to go get some water, but I had only clocked up 1.7miles as opposed to the 2.1 I've been doing so far. Time reported from my band was 23mins 13seconds and strava reports it as 22 minutes. It usually is always a bit out but think normally at around the 26 minutes mark.

So a bit confused right now, does the warmup start as soon as you play the run or when laura etc tell you to start walking?

Only thing I think I'll try next is to start the gps at the start of the first run and end of the last from now on. Will see what happens wednesday

My distance varied over week 2 last week... I took the same route and ended at different points each time. The middle run was my fastest. Don't worry too much about it, sounds like you completed it. Pace isn't super important at this point, the main thing is to keep moving forward, whether it's faster or slower than last time. :)

In my previous c25k journey I found that when I was under-hydrated I went slower.

yeah that's what I don't quite understand really. My pace was pretty much what I usually do, and I don't expect it to be bang on 30 minutes each time I stop the timer, but being 8 minutes out seems a bit strange? I did feel like I could have gone on a bit further too, so just a bit concerned the app is playing tricks on me right now

Ok, brain must have been tired as well, checked the description again and it adds up to 25 mins for this run so it is a fair bit shorter :D I'm guessing the 5 minute walk may start from the moment you press go on the app as well (to account for the other 2 mins loss), so will try that on Wednesday

Phew thought I had cheated somehow!

Another factor may be that when you were obstructed by car doors etc Strava might have got confused and autopaused. Distance doesn’t matter in this programme: you ran the times you were supposed to do you did the run and if Strava didn’t pick that up it’s Strava’s problem!

Using other apps at the same time can sometimes confuse Strava.

One big cause of issues with Strava is having sat nav apps still active, they use assisted GPS whereas Strava doesn’t... having something turning on assisted can confuse as there can be a relatively big distance between the two locations they give. Most trackers work best when they’re the only app utilising GPS... there’s options to turn off location access for almost everything.

many thanks yeah I don't run Strava on my phone, only through my Gear Fit Pro2 which has dedicated GPS. That then syncs the run to strava, so think it's probably in this case just it being a shorter run timewise. But about to head out so guessing it will be the same today! :D

Hi there. So I’m not the only one! I couldn’t believe it this morning, W3R1 and it was going well, really well, and the Laura says “that’s it” and second after the “Map my Run” app says “time 20 mins”. What! I wasn’t running that fast, believe me, a passerby would struggle to distinguish the difference between my walking and jogging. I’m taking it very steady as I have had Achilles’ tendon problems. So I did another run!
