Landmark run-20 minutes!!!

Today was a landmark run- week5 run 3 - the longest continuous run for me in ages. Although I’ve still been running in the early part of the year, I had been struggling with my lungs, and could only Jeff and run for about 1-2 minutes before needing a walk break. I then had a 6 week break from running altogether and went back to C25k and I’m building up again. Also my daughter came with me this morning, she has been doing the same runs as me but starting at HER house and she hasn’t run for over 2 years. I was hoping this would have made her slow enough for us to be about the same speed but no!!🙄. But then she is half my age, 34 to my 68!!!

But last night she stayed at mine and brought her running gear with her and we planned to run together this morning. She said she’d let me pick the pace but I could see she was desperate to go faster 🥴

I had just one headphone in so I could listen to the music as I tend to run to the beat, and we did our warmup walk and then both pressed start as Laura said start walking, and then I counted us down in time with Laura to start the run. Well we managed a conversational pace …. That’s if you usually grunt 2 or 3 words at people in conversation..🤣🤣🤣 and after the first 10 minutes my breathing got easier and, although at one point we struggled to run past a man who was walking, I felt I could have carried on as Laura said “ that’s it , youve run for 20 minutes”. Perhaps I should because Laura has serious issues with her times!!!! So we ran for 19.45 minutes. Thanks Laura!!!😡

But my breathing was back to normal within a couple of minutes. I’m wondering if I should maybe do a longer warmup walk to see if I can get my lungs working properly before I start running? I didn’t have the heavy legs today though, which was good. And my bruised bigtoe didn’t hurt while I was running either.

Came home and had time to shower and eat breakfast before my online Pilates session with Ruth…..and of course “ today we will be doing lots of leg and glutes work “ 😭😭😭 but I managed it and I think that, on top of my normal stretches, should have helped.

Week 6 next!!! That seems to have come round so quickly!!

Well done to you and it sounds as if it is all going great. You just did my favourite run of the plan. I love that you say you let your daughter set the pace! I only have one pace , slow! Happy running

No she let ME set the pace!!! I couldn’t run at her pace. She does under a 10 min mile and I’m still around 13, - 15 on a bad day

Love your idea of conversational pace limberlou - it sounds very much like mine! Did you eventually get past the Walker? I find it very difficult but usually have a chat as they walk past me again later on🤣!
