Starting out !!!

So with 5 stone to lose today I did week one run one. Not going to say it was easy but not as hard or scary as I thought it would be . I’m still way to self conscious to run outside so did it in the gym on the treadmill. Run two on Thursday .

Well done! I’ve got about 5stone to lose too, and did my second run of week 1 today. I really struggled from the 6th run onwards but so glad I finished the session.

Keep up the good work :-)

I started in October last year and Graduated in January 2018. There will be times when it seems too much, but believe me, you can do it. In the later weeks, where the runs get longer, I always used to promise myself a treat afterwards and then look forward to that treat all through the run, which was a great incentive :)

Good for you getting started. 👍👍👍

Loads of help, advice and support if you need it.

Nothing wrong with the treadmill but I'd say life's too short to stay inside.

Enjoy the whole experience. 😃😃😃

Well done... run one isn’t easy. You may see little or no weightloss from running, but you will lose some inches. My tip to all doing this alongside losing weight is to measure themselves regularly... sometimes you lose size, but build muscle as you burn fat, this can make you smaller but the same weight, even slightly heavier, which is upsetting... the tape measure tells you the full story, the scales don’t.

You’ll soon gain confidence and be wanting to come outside and run on hills in wind, rain and cold. Hehe, I know how to sell it huh?

This is fantastic advice, I measure and weigh and when I haven't lost LBS I have lost Inches. Great motivator.

Hey I felt the same! I just did my first run outside (in a strange town where no one knows me) but no one even noticed me I just feel good. It’s way better than treadmill

Hiya I'm on week 2 and have about 5 stone to lose too, i run in our local park and was very self conscious to begin with but I've had runners smile and nod at me and an elderly gentleman told me that it was great to see and to keep it up and not give in and most of the rest of the time I'm too busy to care who is looking so you might actually find outside is better than in a gym

That’s so encouraging . 😃

Another member of the 5 stone to lose club 👋. I'm about to start week 2. I've actually done 5 week 1 runs though as I decided to repeat week 1 until I felt confident about doing it before I moved on. I expected to repeat week 1 for 4 or 5 weeks so I was massively surprised that by the third run I could do it. So much so that I had to do another 2 to make sure it wasn't a fluke!! I'm an outside runner. Funnily enough I think I'd feel more self conscious doing it at the gym. I'm not very coordinated so the chances of me falling off the treadmill are high plus you're trapped in a room with the same people listening to your heavy breathing whereas outdoors you just pass and they're gone. I think it's much easier to be anonymous outside. That said, I do run in a park not by the road - I don't want to contend with passing motorists!!

Good on you . I’m ready for run 2 on Thursday . I went to the gym when I knew it would be empty but I will venture outside eventually. Good luck . 😃

Yo! Another 5-stone-to-go runner here! No idea how to lose weight (too greedy I think) but am determined to carry on running. All the best with the journey xxx

Well done! I remember feeling just like that at the beginning (about 4 months ago) - I always run outside, but I used to run VERY early in the morning so no one would see me. However, now I don’t care, and run whenever I want to. This morning I was waving to people I know passing in cars, and chatting to walkers and other runners. It’s a great feeling. And I can’t quite believe this is me (still overweight, but very much fitter). You can do it too!
