Haved rowed since 1973 and finally hung up my oars this year, but I need to continue with something. Did Run one on Sunday and my body suddenly realised it had to carry its own weight! Thankfully my first impressions are, what a sensible well thought out way to keep fit. Looking forward to run two. I'm the one with white hair.

Starting out - I'm new here
Good luck with your new running Journey. I’m also a new starter. Start my second week on Wednesday night! 😃
You obviously have a good general level of ftiness and will be no stranger to the mindset required to push through on the latter weeks, so I imagine you will take to this like a ...ahem, rower to water.
Yes, do expect your body to protest a bit for the first few weeks, but plenty of rests between and... well you know the rest!
Surprised you didn't take up cycling. Another sport where you sit on your ar£$ a lot
Welcome aboard and good luck with the journey! I'm sure you'll find it plain sailing! ⛵😊👍
Welcome to the forum MikeBower and welcome to running. You must have some good core strength from your rowing which will stand you in good stead for your running. The programme is great and I'm sure you'll be successful. Happy Running
Welcome.
Please do be aware that running stresses the body in a way that non impact exercise does not, which is why the rest day between runs is mandatory. Sure, you may get away with missing it in the first couple of weeks, but as the demands step up that rest day is when muscles repair and strengthen.

Enjoy your journey.
