As the title says, really! Happy that 4 is now done and we're moving into week 5 but, lying here, I'm noticing a dull ache sensation at the bottom of my shin / top of my foot (i.e. the bend between the two areas!).
It's only mild but I'm definitely conscious of it π¬ it's only on my left leg, weirdly. Slightly gutted and worried it's going to ruin the progress we've been making! π

It doesn't sound like shin splints and if you haven't had it before this stage, then it is unlikely, unless you have increased your pace or changed running surface very recently.
Ice it, rest it.......an extra rest day maybe........and keep the speed down, avoiding heelstriking.
Are you wearing proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop?
Ah ok, thanks for that... this is literally the first time I've been aware of it. I think I've possibly slowed down (been ill this week) rather than sped up and the surface we're running on has been the same for weeks as we're doing pretty much the same route each time.
Just wearing trainers I've bought from Tesco so no, doubtful they are proper running shoes and I've not had any gait analysis done... maybe now is the time?
It feels almost like cramp but it's coming and going...? To be honest, I've been bad at post run stretches so I've done some tonight, not sure if that has helped or not!
Thank you! I've done some stretching tonight, admittedly I've not done any before today so maybe that hasn't helped π¬ lots of rest definitely in order for the rest of tonight and as much as possible tomorrow, 3 year old permitting!
Now might be a good time to head to a running shop and get your gait analysis done. Proper footwear will make a world of difference. In the meantime rest, ice etc and seek professional opinion if it gets worse x
Rule is.. never run through pain and don't take painkillers to mask any pain.., it is probably not shin splints...but it does need sorting. Well done you... you will be back on track soon.
