So third time trying CT5K, and determined to graduate this time!

Best I did was a couple of years back, got to the 20minute continuous run, beat that and the following run had a disaster. Had terrible acid at the half way point of the run, felt dizzy nauseous, and ended up struggling with a panic attack all the way back.

Changed my diet afterwards to try and tackle it, pretty much quitting coffee, watching spicy foods etc and felt better but never really got around to trying again.

Since then have moved out of our apartment into a house last year and now have a 1 year old cocker spaniel that's been great at keeping me walking. Have been jogging with him a bit through the woods over the last couple of months, but a couple of weeks ago fell badly on my ankle and sprained it badly. Also had one run a few weeks back early in the morning and felt the acid returning a bit (have noticed a pattern that I really need to be up and about out of bed for at least half an hour before a run, which seems to now help)

Didn't want to quit because I was enjoying it, so thought now CT5K might be the best bet to ease back into it and keep to tarmac for the majority.

Just finished the first run, great to hear Laura again, and enjoying the new app. Run went well, enjoyed it and found it pretty easy (thought seemed to be more 1min runs than I remembered!) Looking forward to the next one!

Welcome back. Most guys I now that run are up a little while before they go out, maybe they’ve had similar issues in the past. I suffer from acid if I eat anything with lots of tomatoes in, so lots of Italian food has in the past been an issue. Then I watched an Italian chef making base tomato sauce, surprisingly from tinned tomatoes (it’s a seasonal thing) and he added sugar in a ratio of one teaspoon per can. I asked why and he said it cuts the acid and reduces indigestion... since that day I’ve never had an issue.

brilliant thanks great tip! Actually booked in for an italian on Friday for my girlfriends birthday - typically the day before run 3, will have to sneak some sugar in there!

No worries... tomato was never my chief suspect for the issue, it was a bit of a “really? No? Ok” moment for me. Not sure how widely practiced this is... you may already have it in if you eat at a restaurant, I have seen one American-Italian chef do same thing, but he just used pinches of sugar, no science as such!

actually thinking on it had pizza for tea last night and did feel the acid this morning a bit - I had a bit of apple cider vinegar in water this morning, and found that helps too :)

Well done and welcome back. It's amazing how you are overcoming all obstacles! It is inspiring, thank you! Not giving up is a great virtue. You can do it!

I'm on my X attempt to finish C25K as well. Today, I will be doing W2R2, so not much ahead of you.

Keep up great work and enjoy!

Happy running!

Many thanks Iga and best of luck too! Think its defo as much a mental fight as much as a physical one. My first attempt went so well it knocked me for six when I had a couple of bad runs. I'm expecting them this time, and I expect to repeat runs when needed. Have a holiday in Mexico booked for December so aiming to run out there too, if I've graduated by then it will just be a bonus :)
