In October last year, I restarted the program after about 18 months off of running but it wasn't to be, my mother in law ended up in hospital, first she fell in the night and then less than a week after being discharged she was rushed in again with a suspected stroke. I spent a lot of time either working or more importantly, supporting my wife.
It turned out to be pneumonia, she recovered and is now quite well.
I've been meaning to restart the program since mid January but I kept finding something else to do, I know what my problem is, when I find something that interests me I have to learn as much as I can about it, no matter what it is, much to the detriment of everything else I'm doing.
I need to learn not to do that, I'm trying, at the minute I'm managing learning more about 3d printing, dieting (again but so much new research is out), fitness and work.
Enough of the excuses.
I decided today was the day, I had a couple of early meetings so as soon as the last of those finished it was into the running gear and onto the treadmill.
I don't care what other people say the hardest run of the entire program is W1R1, I've done this program many times but that is by far the hardest of them all.
I loved every minute of it, I was going to put a sprint on to the end of it but wanted to check my recovery HR (35bpm), which I'm more than happy with given the current state of my training (first day).
Slow and steady, breathing controlled and all of it belly breathing.
Run 2 is scheduled for Saturday morning, reminder set not only on the app but also on my office Alexa just to be sure.
