First Run on Week 1 😩

Just completed my first week 1 run. Never been a runner - can barely run for a bus.

But. It was actually ok. I live on a cul de sac so it takes 60 secs to run up it and 90 secs to walk down. Quite handy really.

However, I have 3 blisters! Is that my trainers or running style?

Actual beads of sweat running down my face was a shock! But all in all, it was fine. Next one on Friday.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You may have to venture beyond your cul de sac as run lengths increase.

Blisters are caused by poorly fitting footwear and feet that are not used to abrasion. If you are going to get new shoes read the above guide and links first.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you!

I walk a lot. Have loads of places to run around me but also live in a very hilly city. Just thought I’d stick with the cul de sac for week one.

I got new trainers... maybe that’s why I have blisters.

Thanks for support and advice. Have a great day!

Are they running shoes?

They’re Nike “training” shoes.

Not necessarily the same as running shoes.

Excellent! Well done! That was me several months ago - unable to run a bath - but I can run for 28 minutes now! I still get purple and sweaty! Keep going- you can do this!

Well done !

I got huge blisters on week 1 too. I was running with the wrong kind of socks (thin cotton ones). Investing in a pair of "real" running socks made wonders for my feet.

So socks may be possible culprits too 😉
