Wk1R1 - still alive!

In spite of the nagging fear that I may collapse at any moment clutching my chest, I managed to complete my first session of C5K last night.

I'm 48 and my lack of fitness, coupled with obesity, has become too much to ignore.

I took the decision yesterday to download the C5K app and surprising not only myself but also my family, I took to the streets under the cover of darkness.

I wasn't looking forward to it, I tried jogging before and it didn't agree with me but whilst it was difficult the app and some music kept me going. Around halfway I realised that I could do this and began to enjoy it (maybe too strong a phrase).

By the time I made it back home I had stuck to the intervals and had a huge sense of achievement, daft I know but it felt great.

Hoping to continue and not slip back into apathy but I feel better even after just completing the first session. Long may it continue.

We have another survivor guys!!!

Welcome. Good decision, great job. That run is so incredibly hard... took me a year from thinking about this to doing it, so you’re 52 weeks ahead of me! That sense of achievement is very well deserved, I think the enjoying it bit means you’re nuts 😂 but that comes in handy. Good mental strength is needed for that run and every time you have a tough run, you got that. So, that’s all the boxes ticked. Drink (sip) lots of water every day, don’t go too fast, and you’ll do just fine.

Daft? I don't think so! You should feel a sense of achievement having gone out and finished the run. It gets better as you go on so keep at it. Getting fitter, and feeling good about doing it, what's not to like?

A great thing you have done.

We have so many come here, myself included, who have and will benifit so much from couch to 5k.

Go nice and slow and take it easy.

Best of luck with run 2.☺️👍

Well done! Just done my first "run" with the app. Aged 63. Each running minute got harder! Diving into a Radox bath now. Hope it gets better! Also feel the need for deserted places to run in. Maybe after dark is a good idea.

Many people have said that they thought that they were going to die on the first week of C25K, of course they did not die or collapse and 9 weeks later they graduated and were so happy about that

Welcome, and well done on starting your fabulous journey. It’ll make you feel awesome, you’ll change shape, you’ll be bitten by the running bug sooner rather than later! 😀

Have a blast and tell us all about it on here! 👍🏻😀

Excellent well done! You’ve taken the first step to a brand new fitter future. Enjoy it, take your time (there’s no such thing as too slow) and keep us up to date with how you’re getting on 🤩

Yey! Well done! I'm on Week 4 now and it's definitely getting easier. The first run was probably the hardest as I hadn't run for 20 odd years. I've been going out early in the morning so no one can see me!
