Just got back from my first session (and I have been improving my fitness for 3 months through walking, cycling and some step aerobics at home)! The first C25K session took me by surprise and have had to sit down for half an hour to recover, harder than a 20 mile cycle ride! Will it get easier?? 😳

I did week one last week. By the third it was much easier. Perhaps if it was that hard you need to slow a bit? It's ok to go very gently at first. When you can run for half an hour then build the pace. For now it's ok to run slow and just get used to it. That is the advice I am taking and I think it works. Good luck. This forum is a great help
I agree it's definitely worth making sure you take it slowly, as the build up of doing several short runs does have quite an effect on your body, even if each run is only 1 minute long. Not everyone gets through all the runs on the first go, so you're doing well to even manage that. Another thing - the podcast doesn't specifically advise to do stretches but it should. I remember feeling very sore the day after my week 1 run 1. Try to do some stretches today, maybe have a hot bath, and take it easy on your rest day tomorrow. Lots of luck!

I thought the very first run was the hardest so good for you for getting it done. It will get easier but run very slowly and take your time going through the weeks and you'll notice a change. By the time you reach week 4 you'll look back to the first run and amaze yourself at how far you've come.

Yes it will. Take your time though, that's the key. Slow jogging will get you there. No need for speed.
Exercise at home is great for improving your core strength. I do Jillian Michaels as they contain a bit of everything (cept cycling! LOL) and they will help your running no end, as will cycling, walking and swimming
Good luck with your next run!

Hi Joolie, I'm 53, 5 stone over weight and have shed eight pounds so far.not really taken part in this forum, ..just want a bit of advice...how do I start running when I'm so overweight. I can walk five miles quite easily but am worried about running as I don't want to hurt my knees....any thoughts?
