Thanks so much to misswobble, aliboo70, Oldfloss, IrishPrincess, AncientMum, PoppyPug and others who have remarked on my absence.
I have been dropping by the forum very occasionally but not posted or run since January.
I've been struggling with my balance, tinnitus, scary head pain and pins and needles in my left arm. This has resulted in a trip to A&E and the cancellation of a trip to Norway!
I've seen specialists and had an MRI scan which ruled out anything 'sinister' but continued to struggle and didn't trust myself to run, do Pilates or Tai Chi as usual, although I have kept a daily walk of 2-3 miles going.
After physical, audiology and visual tests, it appears I have been suffering from chronic vestibular migraine. The good news is that it is slowly being brought under control by tablets - the bad news is that they absolutely knock me out. Been sleeping for 9 or 10 hours a night and am really groggy. However the scary symptoms have abated and the balance is improving. Doc says I can soon start trying to run for short bursts of 30 seconds to begin with.
On top of all this we are in the throes of moving down to Suffolk and renting out our Yorkshire house. I think it may take another couple of months to start getting back on track and beginning to explore a new running area. It may take me longer to get back on the forum - our rural idyll appears to have c**p Internet!
Thank you all so much for missing me. I hope you are all continuing to thrive and that I shall be back with the gang before too long.
xx

Hi there you ! So glad you are still here with us x
We miss you.. and I am really sad about all your trials and tribulations. How very unpleasant and scary too! Thank goodness anything too sinister has been ruled out, but nasty enough anyway! Big hug...but gentle x
Very exciting times for you...but the upheaval of moving, with all your health problems.. goodness !
Have you seen the Walking for Health link, that Realfoodieclub has been involved with and has put us on to? Some really useful helpful stuff on there, including a programme that RFC devised! She is brilliant!
It is so helpful too, for many of us runners who have been or are on the IC...
At least you are able to walk... runswithdogs has had a horrid time too, and is only just getting back on par after her concussion accident!
It is lovely to have you back.. you were so much a part of my running journey, and the support and sound advice that you have offered to so many of us, is invaluable...
I hope all goes well and really look forward to your posts when you are settled and back into things
I am... going strong and a kindred spirit too I hope Thank you x
Little one is keeping me young... and life generally...
I hope your move goes well... we moved two years ago... it still haunts me! Suffolk though, beautiful.... didn't you have relatives down there? We have just bought a little holiday home by the sea... and I am loving it!
You will be back on form soon.. just take it gently... I have to remind myself sometimes, that although I think I can move mountains.. my body won't let me!
Ah yes Ully - we can be walking buddies. My concussion has given me many of the same symptoms - fatigue, tinnitus, dizziness, and migraines amongst other symptoms. Sounds like you're starting to get things under control, but I'll toss out the idea of seeing a vestibular therapist anyways in case you have one close by and are looking for other options. I hadn't heard of one until this accident. Running is still not an option for me, mostly because of the headache and vestibular issues, but they are improving.
Hoping things improve quickly and completely for you.
Hope the tablets help and you can start to feel better soon Ully. Good luck for your move. That's a stressful thing to have to cope with on top of health worries.
Thanks boptilly, I'm looking forward to the move but it is an awful lot of work. At least we've finally thrown out some of the stuff in our loft that hasn't seen the light of day since we first arrived!
Hello Ullyrunner, well that explains your absence...really sorry to hear all that you have been going through. Hopefully, now the doctors know what they are dealing with, they will be able to help you manage the symptoms and life will get back to some sense of normality! Moving house can be really stressful too, so do look after yourself and check in here when you can!🙂
Ah well missW, I was only ever Yorkshire by marriage and we are keeping a toehold here. I have loved it but we are moving to another lovely part of the country.
Ahhh lovely to hear from you again Ully. Sorry to hear of your troubles , must be horrible thinking youre going to fall over and faceplant into the nearest ditch !
Moving from Yorkshire ??? Gasp !!!
Hope all goes well with the move , and youre well and truly back on the road to full recovery .
Hello Ullyrunner, sorry to hear of your health issues. So good that they are now starting to respond to treatment. There will no doubt be lovely running routes in your new area, lucky you!
Hi Ully, lovely to hear from you again, although not so lovely to hear how ill you've been. Sounds like you've really been through the mill and, what with that and the stress of moving, no wonder you've been absent from here. It's good to hear you're on the mend and I hope this continues when you make the move to sunny Suffolk. As a fellow exile from Yorkshire living in Suffolk, perhaps we could meet up for a gentle run one of these days. Take care m'dear xx
Welcome back, sorry you've been having such a terrible time of it. Please feel free to come and share your walks with us in the walking for health forum. It's run exactly the same as here. It's a new forum so you be getting in at the grass roots as well. I'm getting back to walking after my surgery so like you it's all about the proper build up. All walkers of all abilities are welcome. We have a 12 week quest much like the quest on here you can join anytime. We've missed you 😀. Rfcx.
Sorry to hear of your health troubles but hope they have got to the bottom of it and you'll be improving in leaps and bounds. Not the easiest time to throw in a big move , hope all goes well for you, its therapeutic to have a good old sort out(says me - a well known hoarder!! )
I'm glad we know you're still around, we have missed you! take care love Ali xxx
Great to see you here again Ully, you've been missed. I'm sorry to hear you've been through the mill. Although it sounds as if there is light at the end. A house move is always stressful especially when the technology side doesn't work! When we moved to "the country" three years ago we didn't have ANY internet for about three weeks. Not good ☹️
But, there's an upside to everything in life and new area = new running routes and that's just brilliant fun, so enjoy it when you get there.
I hope everything works out and we'll keep the home fire burning for you 🤗
Hey up, Ully Popped round to see where you'd disappeared to, and found this post. I'm sorry to hear about your health issues and I hope that the treatment is having less impact on your energy levels. How are you now?
Oh Ully, I missed this, I'm so sorry you're having such trouble. I have vestibular problems myself, so I understand the balance problems and the tinnitus, luckily I don't get the head aches....hoping your getting better, big kiss xx
