Running devices for App?

Hi, just started! Never ran before! 53 and need to lose weight and get healthy. Very motivated however, just hope body doesn’t let me down. My question is that I don’t have a smart phone, just an iPad but I really like the idea of playing the app with music. Please can anyone recommend a device (cheaper than an Apple Watch) where I can play the C5k app and my music while running? Thank you 🏃‍♀️

The cheapest Garmin watch with music is the Forerunner 245 music... but it is £300 and so getting close to the price of the Apple Watch... though better as a running device. The Garmin can’t run the C25K app, but they can have the run walk intervals programmed in at this level.

Do you have an iPod/mp3 player? With that you could add a running watch like the Garmin 35 for £99 and have music and run timing. However the Garmin 35 can’t take the changing run/walk intervals of later weeks... you’d have to know what you should be doing when and go by time. There is of course a podcast version of C25K that gets round the issue.

It would also be possible to get a light running backpack and use the iPad for music, though that’s probably not ideal.

Sorry, can’t help you there, I got a second hand iPhone, which of course works a treat. You’ll get it sorted. I’m a 63 1/2 year old cuddly granny who today ran for 25 mins. It’s so great when you’ve done it.

I'd look for a 2nd hand smartphone which you could get for under 50 for sure. You wouldn't even need a SIM card. Just load your music and the app and off you go. I'm sure if you asked around someone would have one in a drawer. 👍🏻

I’m using a 6S iPhone with app & iTunes for my music. Also you can download the BBC’s sounds app for free for running playlists. By the way I’m 50 so good luck
