You nay or may not know that I an resuming/redoing C25K with some health issues polymyalgia rheumatica and steroids - so my rheumatologist (who is also a runner - so the appointment was all talk about PBs etc) told me that the nature of the illness meant that I would not get back to where I had been before because of the effect on muscles and bones.
So I went back to week 3 on the treadmill in the gym, I found it tough to be honest. Then I went to Parkrun and because week 3 only took me about 2.5 kn I had to repeat it. I found that tougher. Feel disconsolate, comparing now to when I was running under 30 mins.
Just wondered whether I can even attempt week 4 - I have done week 3 six times now.

I missed your posts (but just caught up). Really sorry to hear about your illness. You clearly have enormous grit and determination that will keep you jogging along. It must be dispiriting but we are all here willing you onwards and upwards
Hi there, so good to have you back. Take it easy and be understanding of your body. There are so many adjustments going on. Personally I would maybe attempt week 4 with the strict understanding that I might not manage it to the extent I would like. I have had to change my running around after graduation due to my heart rate running a little high, which is why I run\walk. It’s annoying and gets to me at times but I tell myself at least I can still run. Take some time to find out what is going to fit in with the new you and embrace it, you will still run with your determination, take each run and recognise the achievements you are making, and obviously keep coming back and sharing.
TBH I am wondering if it is the long lay off affecting me or/and the debilitating nature of my illness or maybe a combination of both.
But, the bottom line is that I was able to do Parkrun albeit that I was almost last (god bless the tail walker), walking is OK for me, I walked 22K one day but running is a different beast.
However I am so pleased that I was doing week 3 3 days last week. Plus with what is wrong with me, the rest days are soooooo essential.
I had a long lay off last year due to surgery, and it took me ages to get back, even now I’m coming back after needing orthotics so the last year of running has been all over the place, I have just kept up little and often and done what I could when I could after the initial 4 month no running at all. My body took a lot longer than the C25k to get back to running the way I used to, but I found when I pushed too far the consequence was it shoved me back again, so I stopped doing that and increased extra slowly. I walked a HM before I was ready to run a 5km. 😀.
Why not try week 4 and see how you get on. Maybe give yourself extra rest days in between runs? Did your consultant give you specific advice on distance limits, etc or is it just a question of you trying out to see what works?
No, the consultant just said I wouldn't be able to do what I had been doing before - turned out that he is a runner too, so we talked more about running than my illness !! I think it might be a combination of out of shape (4 months) and the illness. Am going to try week 4 though thanks to your Royal proclamation
