W2R1 completed yesterday

I'm finding if I go out earlyish in the morning I feel better than in the evening, my chest for starters isn't as sore. Im happy with the way my run went yesterday and my daughter commented that I wasn't as loud and out of breathe as the previous run when I arrived home lol.

The only thing that's upsetting me, is the number on the scales at Slimming World for the last few weeks. I've put weight on... it's not much, 1.5lb total, but it's enough to make me want to eat, at least I'll know the reason why.

I'm a bridesmaid in Nov, so hence why I'm worrying over the number on the scales 😔

Scales are liars sometimes. Hopefully now you’re running, you are concentrating on hydration. A hydrated body weighs more than a dehydrated one. 1.5lb is less than a litre of water, it’s less than another bodily function too! 1.5lb is pretty much nothing. Do you have a tape measure and if so did you measure yourself thoroughly? I’m asking because as you exercise you build some muscle, which is a lot heavier than fat. So it could be, and I’ve seen it many times, that weight goes up but inches come down.

Seems you’re making good inroads into fitness already if you’ve recovered from W2R1 faster than the last one. Great job getting out there and doing it. Seems early morning suits you, I’m an evening person.

Lol you made me laugh at the bodily function comment! I know it isn't much, but it's just disheartening when you're told you've weight on and you know you were good

Saying that, overall I've 20 inches off, so maybe I'll concentrate on that for the next month and see what happens x

That’s what I did... lost 140 pounds very slowly... I don’t possess a set of scales. 20 inches, that’s what will make a difference getting into the bridesmaids dress, and looking fab. Scales always made me stress and stress kills weight loss.

Wow that's amazing!!

I need the structure of getting weighed each week, but I think I need to concentrate on my fitness, mental health and inches, instead of the numbers :)

Yep, you have a regime that works and a support group at weigh in... that’s all good, just relax about it... you’ve stuck to your plan, you’ve done the exercise, job done. It’s like C25K... you do the runs and stick to the plan, the numbers don’t actually matter, but the fitness level does.

Oh poor you, I know how it feels when the scales go up and you can't understand why (a life time experience of yo yo dieting)...great you have an incentive to keep you going and hopefully continuing with the exercise you will see the results soon on the scales and how you feel physically will be your reward. Keep up the good work and as my mum always says, nothing worthwhile is ever easy :-)

Thanks Realveggie. I think once I start upping my running ie. Moving onto week 4 etc, im hoping this is when the scakes start miving again.

And how right is your mum 😉

When I started this my SW consultant told me to expect a slow down in weight loss or a gain due to the extra water and muscle repair needed. You do get the bonus of body shaping though - I'm finding most of my floppy bits aren't as floppy and definitely taking on a more body shaped figure. Don't be put off if the scales aren't your friend for a few weeks- keep going you'll be healthier for it and the weight loss kicks back in once your body is more used to the program xx

Thanks Bandit14. I've fallen out with my scales lol, but I can see where I'm toning up and getting a wee bit narrower, so I'll have to be happy with this for another few weeks :)
