Week 2

I am really motivated to run and it appears to help my mood too but found run 1 on week 2 tough.

At times during jog I had to slow down and I was also feeling dizzy at points. Has this happened to anyone else ? I am also impatient and fighting impulse to go out every day...

You really shouldn't run everyday as a beginner runner, rest days are important.

Try slowing your pace it will help. Make sure you have a drink before you go out, it is very hot at the moment maybe eat half hour or so before going out could be low blood sugar making you dizzy.

You did it though... great job. If you could slow down then that gear maybe the best one to be in as runs get longer.

Have you found some cross training for rest days? It helps me not run if I have something to do to help running.

I used to do metafit every day on you tube but got bored with it . However I will maybe give that a try. What surprised me was how good I felt being out in the fresh air ! I Also try to do body pump twice a week as apparently that gets the weight off (watch this space) ! Thanks for your post .

My preferred way is to do 3 different things on my 3 rest days and then walk on all 6 days, if we have the 7th day it is usually a sofa day. Plenty of choice out there, and I do it when I’d have done my run if I’d had one.

Firstly.. slow down.. and the more so . Also, have you checked this post to... there is a great deal of useful advice there:)

healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

A healthy eating regime.... hydration good at all times... will all help.

Rest days are non negotiable... and on some of them, do your strength and stamina exercises.. that will really help as the runs get longer too:)

The heat and humidity is unending many folk... but if the giddiness and dizziness persists.. do please get checked out:)

If you had to slow down, then you were going too fast in the first place. You should aim for an easy conversational pace, as described in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Enjoy your journey.

I've just completed run 2 week 2 and found it more comfortable than run 1 I focused on keeping slow paced run and upping the pace of the walk. It was the first run I've done in the morning. That might be why I found it easier, or the cooler temperature or the slower pace, whatever it was it worked.

I’ve just done W2 R1 and found 90 minutes seemed a lot harder than 60! At the end of it I had only run one minute longer than runs in week 1 😲😠. We were asked to breathe in and out slowly, for four steps, and I found this made me light headed too, so tried 3 steps instead.
